Who We're Looking For

Smarcel seeks individuals who want to learn, create, and take responsibility early on. They are looking for someone with a sharp mind for numbers, independence, and a passion for the startup journey, rather than a traditional CFO with decades of corporate experience.

Your Role: Finance Manager

You will be responsible for all financial matters and investor relations, acting as a key liaison between the two Managing Directors, investors, the advisory board, and external partners. This is a hands-on role with significant strategic input.

Your Responsibilities:

• Forecast & Cashflow Management: Monitor liquidity, burn rate, and runway, providing timely warnings of potential issues.
• Investor Reporting: Prepare monthly investor updates, including financial key figures, forecast revisions, and commentary on significant developments.
• Board Meetings: Prepare materials, including financial data, presentations, and proposals, for quarterly advisory board meetings.
• Funding Round (€4-6M): Serve as a strategic and operational driver for the upcoming funding round, including financial modeling, pitch material creation, investor list management, and coordinating due diligence.
• Economic Feasibility Calculations: Analyze business cases for pilot projects, partnerships, and strategic decisions.
• Accounting & Reporting: Oversee external accounting, ensuring smooth execution of annual financial statements, tax filings, and statutory reporting requirements.

What You Bring (Qualifications):

• Completed university degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, or a related field.
• Initial professional experience in finance, such as controlling, corporate finance, auditing, investment banking, consulting, or as a finance employee in a startup.
• Excellent Excel skills, ideally with prior experience in financial modeling.
• Very good German and good English language skills (for international investors and partners).
• Structured, self-reliant working style – you identify tasks proactively.
• Ambition, independence, and the desire to co-shape something new, not just manage it.
• Experience in startup financing or a strong willingness to quickly immerse yourself in this area.
