The Role

As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will own critical services end-to-end, from design through production, and contribute to scaling our platform significantly. You will join a small, senior team where your technical decisions have a tangible impact.

Your Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate scalable backend services using Python/FastAPI and REST APIs.
• Model and optimize PostgreSQL schemas, writing efficient asynchronous queries.
• Take full ownership of services: architecture, implementation, testing, deployment, and monitoring.
• Integrate third-party APIs and internal microservices behind a gateway.
• Enhance reliability, performance, and security under high concurrency.
• Collaborate with product and frontend teams to deliver impactful features.
• Mentor mid-level engineers and elevate code quality standards.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience building production backend systems in Python.
• Strong experience with FastAPI (or Flask/Django) and asynchronous programming.
• Solid PostgreSQL skills, including schema design, indexing, and query optimization.
• Proven experience designing and scaling REST APIs and microservices.
• Comfort with Docker, CI/CD, and cloud environments (AWS preferred).
• Good understanding of authentication (JWT/OAuth), caching, and message queues.
• Clear written and spoken English; pragmatic approach with a strong sense of ownership.
