Technical Recruiting Manager
Chainguard is the trusted source for open-source software, providing hardened, secure, and production-ready builds to organizations worldwide. We are venture-backed by leading investors and serve Fortune 500 enterprises and global industry leaders. Our mission is to help organizations build faster, stay compliant, and eliminate risk.
About the Role
As a Technical Recruiting Manager at Chainguard, you will be instrumental in defining how we hire top technical talent, directly influencing the shape of our engineering and product organizations. This role requires a strategic leader who can elevate our technical hiring bar, build essential recruiting infrastructure from the ground up, and serve as a trusted thought partner to our CPO, Head of Engineering, and CISO. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who has successfully navigated and scaled engineering teams through significant growth phases.
What You'll Do
- Team Leadership: Lead and develop a team of technical recruiters, focusing on quality over throughput, maintaining high standards for technical screening and debrief quality, and investing in individual growth.
- Executive Partnership: Partner directly with engineering and product leadership, including the CPO, Head of Engineering, and Head of Security. Build trusted working relationships, provide constructive pushback, and deliver data-driven assessments.
- Interviewer Training: Standardize and build a practical, low-lift technical interviewer training program tied to real calibration outcomes for frequent interviewers.
- Recruiting Strategy: Own the recruiting strategy across engineering, product, and security. Define sourcing strategies, hiring timelines, and quality thresholds, adapting approaches as needed for specific requisitions.
- Pipeline Management: Manage a high-volume, high-complexity pipeline, ensuring your team remains focused, unblocked, and makes sound decisions in a dynamic environment with shifting priorities and a high quality bar.
What We're Looking For
- Experience: 8+ years in technical recruiting, with at least 2 years managing a team. Proven experience supporting an engineering organization through significant scale and understanding the infrastructure required at each stage.
- Technical Acumen: An independent, well-developed point of view on strong engineering and PM talent. Ability to coach recruiters to maintain this bar and engage credibly with engineering leaders.
- Infrastructure Building: Experience building recruiting infrastructure from scratch, such as interview committees, interviewer training programs, or calibration frameworks.
- Stakeholder Management: Ability to push back constructively, use data to support disagreements, and build trust with high-standard leaders.
- Team Development: Skill in coaching high-performing individual contributors and managing performance issues effectively.
- Closing & Selling: Expertise in positioning Chainguard against competitors and closing candidates with strong alternative offers.
Benefits
- Flexible & Remote-First Culture: Work remotely with team meetups, bi-annual destination summits, and a monthly stipend for coworking, phone, and internet.
- Equity: Stock options upon hire and promotion, with secondary offering participation and 10 years to exercise options.
- 100% Covered Health Insurance: Premiums for health, vision, and dental insurance are fully covered for employees and dependents.
- Flexible Time Off: Unlimited PTO to allow for necessary recharge and reset.
- Paid Parental Leave: 18 weeks for birthing parents and 12 weeks for non-birthing parents.
