About the Role
AECOM is seeking a passionate Program Manager to join our high-performance data center team. This role focuses on planning, directing, and executing multiple moderate-to-large scale projects supporting the utility and land development for next-generation digital infrastructure, with a strong emphasis on data center site development planning. This is a client-facing role with opportunities for career advancement.
Work Environment & Flexibility
This position offers the flexibility of a remote work schedule and can be based from various US locations where AECOM has an office. While remote work is supported, office attendance is encouraged if an AECOM office is nearby. Periodic travel may be required for client meetings, key project milestones, onsite collaboration, or other business-critical activities; travel is expected to be occasional and scheduled in advance.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and lead cross-functional teams, including engineers, planners, and consultants, and manage direct reports.
- Build trust with clients, local communities, and regulatory and economic development entities.
- Support the identification and evaluation of land opportunities aligned with long-term data center growth.
- Be accountable for overall project results, including goal setting, team leadership, and adherence to budgets and schedules.
- Perform management, leadership, and people accountability responsibilities for a specific technical group or department.
- Drive due diligence, zoning, permitting, entitlement, and offsite infrastructure processes to completion.
- Proactively identify and deliver risk mitigation strategies and contingency plans.
- Reinforce a culture of accountability, innovation, and open communication.
- Train and deploy machine-learning based program and project management and delivery platforms (AECOM’s AI4Eng).
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Real Estate, Urban Planning, or a related field.
- 8 years of experience in land development, infrastructure, or project management, or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
- Demonstrated experience with colocation and hyperscale data center projects.
Preferred Qualifications
- Licensed Professional Engineer, Architect, or Land Planner.
- Advanced degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Real Estate, or Urban Planning.
- 12+ years of experience in general land development, infrastructure, or project management.
- Proficiency with data center operations, site development, and construction processes.
- Demonstrated ability to support large-scale initiatives and cross-functional teams.
- Proficiency in conducting feasibility studies and evaluating potential sites for development.
- Knowledge of environmental assessments, zoning regulations, land use planning, and utility infrastructure portfolios.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
