What You Bring

Product Strategy & Compliance Expertise

  • Deep understanding of global payroll, employment, tax, and labor compliance across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Experience translating complex regulatory requirements into scalable product capabilities, business requirements, and operational processes.
  • Strong understanding of payroll technology, product development lifecycles, and compliance-by-design principles.
  • Ability to balance regulatory obligations with customer experience, automation, and commercial objectives.
  • Experience supporting global payroll products in highly regulated environments.

Leadership & Organizational Development

  • Proven experience leading and developing high-performing teams in Compliance, Product Compliance, Payroll, or related functions.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the Product Strategy & Compliance Function

  • Build organizational capability through coaching, succession planning, and knowledge-sharing.
  • Ensure the team is a trusted partner to Product, Operations, and Legal stakeholders.

Define and Drive Product Compliance Strategy

  • Execute the strategic vision for Product Strategy & Compliance across Remote's global payroll platform.
  • Establish frameworks and governance models for incorporating compliance throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Create scalable approaches for managing legislative change, product readiness, and regulatory implementation.
  • Partner with Product Leadership to align compliance priorities with product strategy and business objectives.
  • Drive initiatives to improve compliance coverage, operational scalability, and customer outcomes.

Translate Regulatory Requirements into Product Solutions

  • Oversee the interpretation of complex payroll, employment, tax, and labor legislation across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Ensure regulatory requirements are translated into clear business requirements, product specifications, and implementation guidance.
  • Support Product Managers and Engineering teams in designing compliant, scalable, and effective solutions.
  • Provide strategic direction on operationalizing legislative requirements within products and workflows.
  • Promote consistency in assessing, documenting, and implementing compliance requirements globally.

Drive Compliance-by-Design and Product Innovation

  • Partner with Product, Engineering, and Payroll Operations leaders to embed compliance controls into product architecture and automation.
  • Advocate for compliance-by-design principles to reduce manual intervention and operational risk.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage technology, automation, and AI for improved compliance outcomes and customer experiences.
  • Support the development of scalable product capabilities that simplify regulatory complexity for customers.
  • Influence roadmap decisions by balancing regulatory requirements, customer needs, technical feasibility, and business priorities.

Lead Regulatory Intelligence and Market Readiness

  • Oversee monitoring and assessment of legislative and regulatory developments impacting payroll products.
  • Establish processes for proactive identification, prioritization, and implementation of regulatory changes.
  • Support country expansion initiatives by assessing product readiness and regulatory requirements for new markets.
  • Partner with Legal, Operations, and Product teams to develop implementation strategies for evolving regulatory obligations.
  • Ensure awareness of emerging trends, risks, and opportunities in the global payroll landscape.

Act as a Strategic Advisor and Cross-Functional Leader

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leaders across Product, Engineering, Legal, Payroll Operations, and Executive Leadership.
  • Provide strategic guidance on compliance risk, regulatory developments, market requirements, and product direction.
  • Represent Product Strategy & Compliance in roadmap planning, strategic initiatives, and decision-making forums.
  • Build strong partnerships to align compliance objectives with broader business goals.
  • Drive collaboration to ensure regulatory requirements are addressed efficiently and effectively.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary Range: £97,500—£109,650 GBP annually
  • Benefits: Work from anywhere, flexible paid time off, flexible working hours (async), 16 weeks paid parental leave, mental health support, stock options, learning budget, home office budget & IT equipment, budget for local social events or co-working spaces.
