ML Developer (Remote)

About the Role

We are seeking a Machine Learning Developer to spearhead the design, development, and deployment of sophisticated machine learning solutions. This position requires a blend of strong individual contribution and technical leadership, with an expectation to guide team members and ensure ML strategies align with overarching business objectives. Proven experience in competitive ML environments (e.g., Kaggle, benchmarks) is highly advantageous.

What You'll Do

  • Own the complete lifecycle of Data Science/ML solution development, from data pipelines and model design through to deployment and ongoing monitoring.
  • Translate complex business objectives into robust ML architectures that effectively represent business logic and context.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Product, Engineering, and Business stakeholders, to define problem statements and establish success metrics.
  • Evaluate and optimize ML models for performance, scalability, and accuracy using advanced techniques.
  • Stay abreast of the latest advancements in AI/ML research and apply relevant innovations to enhance outcomes.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, AI, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.
  • A minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience in Data Science/ML development.
  • Proficiency in key DS/ML areas and frameworks, including:
  • Supervised and Unsupervised Learning
  • Time-Series Forecasting
  • Natural Language Processing (NLP)
  • Computer Vision (CV)
  • Statistical Modeling and Inference
  • Expertise in Python and essential libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, and Scikit-learn.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and apply various models to real-world use cases.
  • Strong comprehension of data preprocessing, feature engineering, model tuning, and evaluation metrics.
  • Proven track record of designing scalable, production-grade ML systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated expertise in Deep Learning (e.g., convolutional neural networks, recurrent neural networks, transformers).
  • Experience with cloud data platforms like Databricks, AWS, etc.
  • Hands-on experience with PySpark and the Databricks Platform.
  • Commitment to staying current with the latest advancements in machine learning and artificial intelligence.

Bonus Points

  • Experience and knowledge in Kaggle competitions and Benchmarks, such as MLEBench.
  • A proactive approach to experimenting with new technologies and frameworks based on research papers published in top conferences and journals.

Working with Turing

  • Work in a fully remote environment.
  • Commitments Required: A minimum of 4 hours per day and 20 hours per week, with a 4-hour overlap with PST. Options for 20, 30, or 40 hours per week are available.
  • Employment Type: Contractor assignment (no medical or paid leave).
  • Contract Duration: 3 months (expected start date is next week).
  • Location: India, Pakistan, Nigeria, Kenya, Egypt, Ghana, Bangladesh, Turkey, Mexico.

Evaluation Process

  • Total time: Approximately 75 minutes.
  • Interview 1: Technical assessment (60 minutes).
  • Interview 2: Onboarding and cultural discussion (15 minutes).
