Manager, Accounting (Fixed Term - 8 Months)

About The Role

Join a leading global technology company and lead a high-performing Accounting Operations team from our brand-new Auckland CBD office. Reporting to the Director of Accounting, this influential role offers significant exposure to senior leadership. You will lead a small team of experienced accounting professionals to deliver key financial outcomes for a fast-paced, multinational company. This is a rare leadership opportunity at Pushpay, responsible for driving an efficient, best-in-class operating environment across our Accounting function, with a primary focus on Accounts Payable and strategic accounting projects.

You will collaborate with senior internal and external stakeholders in New Zealand and the United States, playing a pivotal role in supporting the Group’s day-to-day accounting functions and ongoing growth strategy. This is a unique opportunity to step into a highly influential position encompassing operational accounting and strategic finance initiatives.

Supervisory Responsibilities: 2-3 direct reports

About You

We are seeking 'Big Four'-trained professionals with strong people leadership experience in Global Accounting Operations. The ideal candidate will possess strong financial operations experience from a large, complex commercial environment, coupled with a proven track record of delivering efficiency, best practices, and world-class financial control.

What You’ll Do:

  • Manage daily/weekly operational accounting processes, focusing on Accounts Payable, Credit Cards, Staff Expense Reimbursements, and operating accounting. Leverage technology and continuous process improvement to drive accurate and efficient functions with high attention to detail.
  • Own the review of Revenue, Leases, Commission, and Inventory accounting treatment in accordance with IFRS.
  • Be responsible for payroll, staff benefits journals, and balance sheet reconciliation reviews.
  • Ensure key operational accounting functions operate within high-quality control environments with effective management accounting and reporting systems.
  • Partner with and support the financial implications of management decisions.

Skills & Experience:

  • CA or CPA qualified, with 3-5 years of post-qualification experience in large, complex businesses with global exposure.
  • Strong accounting capability, proven people leadership, and stakeholder management experience.
  • Autonomous, driven, and self-directed, with a track record of delivering multiple workstreams to tight deadlines.
  • Demonstrated initiative, innovation, and sound judgment in solving complex issues.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively across multiple teams and partner at a senior level.
  • US accounting experience is highly desirable.
  • Technology savvy, with experience in NetSuite and Ramp considered a strong advantage.
