Senior Java Architect

CapTech, an award-winning consulting firm, is seeking a Senior Java Architect to collaborate with clients and lead the design and implementation of innovative technology solutions. If you have extensive enterprise-level Java experience, a strong understanding of modern architectures, and a passion for driving client success, this role is for you.

Consulting at CapTech:

• Create, evaluate, and manage technical solutions to ensure client success.
• Partner with clients on team-based projects, leveraging Agile methodologies and modern technologies.
• Thrive in a collaborative environment, sharing knowledge with colleagues and clients.
• Design, implement, integrate, and support on-prem, cloud, and hybrid development environments.
• Create roadmap and high-level design documentation.
• Identify and communicate architectural/solution tradeoffs.
• Demonstrate working knowledge of architectural frameworks.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support business development.

Technical Solutions Focus:

• Lead the design and architecture of Java-based solutions tailored to client needs.
• Create technical project estimates and work plans.
• Develop code hands-on, in addition to architectural solutions.
• Solutions include API-driven clients, microservice architectures, event-driven integrations, cloud deployments, serverless applications, and web/portal front ends.
• Experience with Agentic AI development (developing agents and developing with agents).
• Experience with a Varied AI Toolset (Claude code, CodeX, Opencode, OpenClaude).
• Preferred experience with AI orchestration.

Learning and Professional Development:

• Create an individualized professional development plan.
• Gain experience with diverse clients and industry verticals.
• Influence and guide professional development for all levels through teaching, coaching, and collaboration.
• Share knowledge through Technical Communities of Practice and Lunch and Learns.

Qualifications:

• Java Expertise: Enterprise-level experience with modern Java, its core libraries, and open-source frameworks.
• Architecture Experience: Hands-on experience with software development, enterprise architecture, and directing technical teams.
• Architectural Familiarity: Microservice architectures, monitoring tools, databases, and containerization.
• Strategic Thinking: Ability to relate architectural recommendations to business needs and client culture.
• Design Patterns: Extensive knowledge and application of Design Patterns.
• Communication: Ability to communicate technical solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Performance Optimization: Experience assessing software system performance and implementing optimization tools.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiarity with tools like LangChain, vector databases, and prompt engineering techniques.
• Knowledge of data engineering tools (Spark, Kafka, Databricks, Snowflake).
• AI/ML certifications or cloud certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Machine Learning, Azure AI Engineer).
• Experience with Legacy Systems and Architectures, including SaaS.
