About the Role

Join FlixTech's Foundation Division as a Senior Kotlin Engineer in Berlin or Munich. You will be part of the Finance Technology Stream, delivering smart, compliant, and automated finance solutions that help the business grow efficiently. This role focuses on backend services and systems that process, validate, and expose financial data, prioritizing data correctness, consistency, and trustworthiness. You'll work in a self-managed, cross-functional team supporting new country launches, business models, and Flix's financial backbone. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys ownership, working closely with business problems, and building robust, long-term foundational systems.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Kotlin.
• Build and evolve scalable, event-driven systems for financial data processing.
• Own features end-to-end: technical design, implementation, testing, deployment, monitoring, and maintenance.
• Collaborate with Product Owners and Finance stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Ensure data accuracy, traceability, and auditability across financial and accounting flows.
• Improve system reliability, observability, and performance.
• Contribute to clean code, architectural discussions, and engineering best practices.

About You

• 5 years of experience as a Software Engineer working with Kotlin.
• Hands-on experience building backend services using the Spring ecosystem (e.g., Spring Boot, Spring Data).
• Experience with event-driven design (asynchronous processing, messaging, domain events).
• Practical experience with cloud platforms (preferably AWS, or similar).
• Solid understanding of databases, both NoSQL (e.g., DynamoDB) and/or relational systems.
• Comfortable working in complex, data-heavy domains (ideally Finance) requiring investigation, analysis, and precision.
• Clear communication in English, open-minded, curious, and motivated for continuous improvement.
