Clinical Data Analyst

About the Role

The Clinical Data Analyst (CDA) is a mid-level individual contributor role supporting the Data Sciences department. You will identify requirements and build solutions to enhance clinical study data reporting and analytics capabilities. This role supports the development of advanced analytical solutions, improves summarization of clinical study data for stakeholders, and enables operational quality and efficiency through departmental metrics.

Reporting Standards Management

  • Lead the creation and development of a standard library of reporting and/or analysis solutions (reports, dashboards, visualizations).
  • Gather cross-functional requirements for specific study questions or operational activities.
  • Build and configure solutions to meet requirements.
  • Lead validation activities for reporting solutions prior to release.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to support validation activities.
  • Contribute to the Data Standards Governance Committee (DSGC) for managing standard reports.
  • Maintain ongoing updates to standard report templates.
  • Support training for the Data Sciences team on new standard reports and solutions.

Study-Specific Reporting Deployment

  • Deploy standard reporting solutions for study-specific use.
  • Create and develop ad hoc reporting and/or analysis solutions as requested by study team members.
  • Gather requirements from study team members for ad hoc solutions.
  • Build and configure ad hoc solutions to meet requirements.
  • Support report requestors in validation activities for study-specific ad hoc solutions.
  • Support long-term maintenance of study-specific solutions and investigate raised issues.

Department Operational & Performance Analysis

  • Identify requirements with Data Sciences leaders to measure and monitor operational and performance metrics.
  • Design, build, and maintain metrics governance within Data Sciences.
  • Analyze large datasets to identify areas for process and performance improvement, delivering reports to Data Sciences leadership.

Technical Systems

  • Participate in the strategy, management, and integration of data reporting systems impacting Data Sciences.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for technical systems, performing validation and testing.
  • Gather and determine requirements for relevant technical systems, working with cross-functional groups.
  • Collaborate with Data Management, Database Programming, Statistics, and Enterprise Analysis teams to drive data governance.
  • Assess opportunities to leverage existing systems for internal efficiencies.
  • Support Data Sciences' contribution to a Data Warehouse, contributing to key decisions and strategy.
  • Assist in determining project cost, timeline, goals, and feasibility for new projects or enhancements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and 4-6 years of related experience.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Visual design and aesthetic sense for appealing and intuitive outputs.
  • Proficiency with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Spotfire).
  • Skilled data storyteller capable of communicating complex information effectively.
  • Strong collaborator.
  • Preferred: Certificate in data analysis, data visualizations, or technical solutions (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Spotfire).
  • Preferred: Prior Clinical Research and/or Clinical Data Management experience.

Working Conditions

  • Home-based

Compensation

  • $97,500 - $163,000 a year + bonus
