Customer Engineer (m/f/d)

Cloudflare is building a better Internet and protecting the free and open Internet. We are seeking a Customer Engineer (CE) to join our technical go-to-market strategy. As a trusted advisor, you will own the technical relationship from discovery through adoption and expansion, representing Cloudflare's Security, Networking, and Developer Platforms. This role is quota-carrying and utilizes AI-augmented workflows to eliminate administrative toil, allowing you to focus on high-value architectural design and driving measurable business outcomes.

About the Role

As a Customer Engineer, you will partner closely with Account Executives, lead technical discovery, build bespoke architectures, and deliver compelling product demonstrations and Proofs of Concepts (PoCs). You will act as a trusted technical advisor throughout the customer lifecycle, owning the long-term technical relationship and ensuring alignment between customer business goals and our product roadmap. You will also carry a variable quota tied to new business acquisition and account growth, driving platform adoption, retaining revenue, and identifying cross-sell/up-sell opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical Validation: Lead technical discovery, build architectures, and deliver demos/PoCs across Cloudflare’s portfolio (Security, Networking, Developer Platforms).
  • Trusted Advisory: Serve as a trusted technical advisor throughout the customer lifecycle, maintaining deep relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Strategic Alignment: Own the long-term technical relationship, ensuring alignment between customer business goals and the product roadmap.
  • Commercial Accountability & Expansion: Carry a variable quota, driving platform adoption, retaining revenue, and identifying cross-sell/up-sell opportunities. Lead technical Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs) to demonstrate ROI to C-level executives.
  • AI Orchestration & Workflow Automation: Leverage AI agents and internal platforms to automate routine tasks (e.g., RFP responses, sandbox provisioning, telemetry monitoring) to focus on strategic customer advisory.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience in a customer-facing technical role (e.g., Solutions Engineering, Customer Engineering, Sales Engineering, Forward Deployed Engineer).
  • Experience working with hyperscaler ecosystems or Cybersecurity vendors.
  • Broad technical expertise spanning web security, networking (routing, DNS, DDoS mitigation), cloud infrastructure, and enterprise architecture.
  • Proven track record in a quota-carrying or revenue-aligned environment, with a strong understanding of SaaS metrics, business value translation, and enterprise sales cycles.
  • Exceptional presentation and stakeholder management skills.
  • Fluency in Bahasa Malaysia or Bahasa Indonesia is preferred due to frequent travel to Malaysia/Indonesia and direct client work.

Strongly Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with Cloudflare’s developer platform and AI ecosystem (Workers AI, AI Gateway).
  • Experience with prompt engineering, Large Language Model (LLM) orchestration, or Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) architectures.
  • Proficiency in Python, JavaScript, or similar languages.
  • Relevant certifications (AWS/Azure/GCP/Palo Alto/ISC2/ISACA/Other Cybersecurity vendors).

Compensation

This role features a competitive base salary and a variable commission structure tied directly to the successful execution of full-lifecycle commercial targets.
