About the Role
Join a dynamic team of engineers across Frontend, Backend, SRE, and QA. You will be part of cross-functional development teams focused on specific product verticals. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to building essential tools, APIs, and integrations for our core products. Our tech stack includes Elixir and Phoenix for the backend, PostgreSQL for the database, and React/Next.js for the frontend. We leverage GitLab for version control, issue tracking, and CI/CD, with applications hosted on AWS. We deploy multiple times daily, relying heavily on our CI for smooth releases.
What You'll Do
- Lead the development of major team-scoped projects and participate in cross-team initiatives for Remote's HR and Payroll products.
- Actively contribute to product development, providing feedback and suggesting solutions based on technical insights.
- Maintain a deep understanding of the team's domain from both product and engineering perspectives.
- Provide constructive feedback during code reviews and contribute to the shared codebase.
- Debug and resolve technical and business issues effectively.
- Participate in non-team activities such as support rotations, hiring processes, and RFC discussions.
- Mentor and guide other engineers, fostering professional growth.
- Investigate, propose, and implement platform improvements.
- Implement interfaces with a focus on performance, accessibility, and API design.
- Redesign engineering workflows to leverage autonomous agents as the default execution layer.
- Propose and operationalize agentic workflows end-to-end (spec → plan → execute → verify) to accelerate delivery.
- Build reusable agentic workflows and primitives for widespread team application.
- Utilize verification loops (tests, checks, evaluations, guardrails) to ensure correctness, security, reliability, and scalability.
What You Bring
- Strong engineering fundamentals and a proven track record of shipping secure, reliable, and scalable production systems.
- Practical experience designing or adopting agentic/automation workflows (or comparable systems) and iterating to improve them.
- Ability to think in systems: define clear specifications, break down plans, instrument verification, and ensure quality.
- Proficiency with PostgreSQL (or similar).
- Experience with CI/CD tools (GitLab, GitHub, Jenkins, or similar).
- Demonstrated strong automation and AI capabilities, with AI fluency.
