Database Administrator (Hybrid)

SugarAI UK Limited is seeking a Database Administrator to join their team in Solihull. This role operates on a hybrid model, requiring a minimum of 3 days per week in the office, and is key to maintaining smooth database operations and ensuring data security and integrity.

Impact You Will Make

  • Develop and maintain database documentation, including data standards, procedures, and definitions.
  • Identify and implement database requirements for new or existing applications.
  • Optimize database performance and efficiency by evaluating and recommending new database technologies.
  • Support users and developers by resolving data-related technical issues and troubleshooting queries.
  • Execute regular database maintenance tasks, including defragmentation, backups, and replication.
  • Design, install, configure, and maintain database systems, including monitoring, patching, tuning, and troubleshooting.
  • Ensure data security and integrity through access controls, backups, and recovery plans.
  • Support ongoing database operations for application and customer activities.

What You Will Bring

  • 5+ years of experience in database administration or a similar role.
  • Experience in database backup, disaster recovery planning, performance optimization, and data security.
  • Extensive knowledge of container orchestration technologies including Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Knowledge of database management systems such as MySQL, Postgres, and MSSQL.
  • Outstanding communication and collaboration skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with virtualization and cloud technologies.
  • Strong knowledge of version control systems and hands-on experience with Git.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in an on-call rotation.
  • Additional database platform experience (DB2, Oracle, etc.).
  • Previous experience as a mentor or advisor.
