Job Description:

Oakdoor is seeking an ambitious Business Development Manager to generate high-quality pipeline and open new business opportunities within our target markets. Operating at the forefront of our sales cycle, you will drive new commercial opportunities for Oakdoor through strategic planning, relationship building in sensitive sectors, and hands-on sales activities. The ideal candidate will have experience managing complex sales cycles, communicating with diverse audiences, and a drive to bring new products to market.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Business Development & Strategy:
  • Identify, target, and develop new business opportunities within the UK and international defense, security, energy, public, and other sectors.
  • Build and maintain a pipeline of qualified prospects aligned with strategic priorities.
  • Analyze market trends, competitor activity, and customer needs to inform business strategy.
  • Contribute to the development of commercial frameworks, pricing strategies, and product positioning.
  • Sales Execution:
  • Manage the full sales cycle from opportunity identification to contract negotiation and close.
  • Prepare and deliver proposals, bids, and RFI/RFQ responses in collaboration with pre-sales, technical teams, and partners.
  • Achieve quarterly and annual revenue and pipeline targets.
  • Client Relationship Management:
  • Cultivate strong, long-term relationships with clients, partners, and key stakeholders.
  • Act as a trusted advisor, understanding customer challenges and opportunities to align Oakdoor’s value proposition.
  • Lead new business meetings, capability presentations, and commercial discussions.
  • Collaboration & Internal Relationships:
  • Work closely with engineering, operations, and leadership teams to deliver revenue-generating products and solutions.
  • Provide feedback on new product opportunities, market shifts, and client expectations based on market sensing and customer understanding.
  • Represent Oakdoor at industry events, conferences, and customer visits.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: 7+ years in B2B business development, account management, or commercial sales.
  • Product Knowledge: Experience selling technical, hardware, IT, or security products/services. Ideally, an understanding of secure hardware and cybersecurity solutions (cross-domain).
  • Attitude: Hands-on, agile, 'sleeves rolled up' approach in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Skills: Strong commercial acumen, exceptional relationship-building, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Tools: Proficiency with CRM, PRM, and partner enablement platforms.
  • Communication: Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence at all organizational levels.
  • Security Clearance: Must be eligible for or hold UK Security Clearance.
  • Beneficial: Experience in network infrastructure or cybersecurity sales.
