The Role:
This role is key to driving profitable growth through the development and execution of SunSource’s acquisition strategy. The M&A Business Development Market Manager works collaboratively across functions (Sales, Marketing, Legal, HR, Finance) to identify, evaluate, lead, and integrate acquisition opportunities. You will immerse yourself in the industrial distribution arena, networking with internal and external parties to uncover growth opportunities.

Essential Functions:
Business Expertise:

  • Develop a deep understanding of industrial Fluid Power, Fluid Conveyance, Automation, and Fluid Process distribution, including customers, supply chains, competitors, and market dynamics.
  • Manage the entire transaction process: relationship development, deal negotiation, due diligence coordination, and integration activities.
  • Lead or participate in post-acquisition performance management and management review sessions.
  • Utilize and document M&A best practices to drive efficiencies, cost savings, and creative structuring solutions.

Networking, Influence, and Negotiation Skills:

  • Engage with leadership to develop business case rationale and integration action plans.
  • Translate business rationale and integration strategies into executive presentation materials and deliver effective presentations to senior leadership and the Board of Directors.
  • Lead and staff cross-functional teams to complete due diligence and integration planning on tight timelines.

Planning and Organizational Skills:

  • Support the overall M&A acquisition strategy, including preliminary market research on new business segments, product adjacencies, and geographic expansion opportunities.
  • Manage the internal M&A pipeline by identifying and screening potential acquisition candidates.

Strong Financial Acumen:

  • Develop financial valuation models and perform scenario analysis accounting for synergies, integration requirements, and due diligence findings to maximize shareholder value.

Experience, Education, and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, and/or Sales.
  • 3+ years of buy-side experience in identifying target companies and initiating buy/sell processes in Mergers and Acquisitions.
  • 10+ years of experience within the Industrial, Fluid Power, Automation distribution business.
  • Strong computer skills including MS Excel, PPT, and related software.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to travel a minimum of 50% of the time.
