About the Role
Constant Contact is seeking a highly technical, strategic, and hands-on Principal MarTech Data Engineer to own our marketing technology and data privacy infrastructure. This role is critical to driving transformative projects that ensure company success. You will be the architect of our enterprise Customer Data Platform (CDP), build scalable data pipelines, ensure data lineage and quality, and take technical responsibility for data privacy operations. The ideal candidate is a natural problem solver with a solid foundation in data engineering, who thrives on complex challenges and is committed to building resilient data flows and top-tier data governance.
What You'll Do
- CDP Architecture & Strategy: Own the technical architecture of the enterprise Customer Data Platform, designing data models, event schemas, and identity resolution rules for a unified customer profile.
- Data Integration & Pipeline Engineering: Architect and build scalable data pipelines connecting internal databases, product telemetry, and third-party SaaS applications into the MarTech stack using APIs, webhooks, and SDKs.
- Data Lineage & Quality: Establish rigorous data tracing and monitoring protocols. Troubleshoot complex data discrepancies end-to-end to ensure high data integrity, reliability, and accuracy.
- Privacy Engineering & Compliance: Take technical responsibility for data privacy operations, integrating data sources with Data Privacy Management/Consent platforms to automate PII deletion and DSAR workflows.
- Cross-Functional Technical Leadership: Bridge Marketing, Business Systems, Data Engineering, and Legal/Privacy teams, translating business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
Who You Are
- Experience: 7+ years of experience in data engineering and integration engineering, with a heavy focus on the Marketing Technology ecosystem.
- CDP/TMS Expertise: Deep architectural and hands-on experience implementing and managing enterprise Customer Data Platforms and Tag Management Systems.
- Integration & API Mastery: Strong backend integration skills with extensive experience consuming and building REST/RESTful APIs, webhooks, and managing batch and real-time data streaming architectures.
- Data Lineage & Analysis: Proven ability to map and trace complex data lineage across distributed systems and analyze dependencies.
- Data Privacy & Security: Solid understanding of global data privacy regulations (GDPR, CCPA) and technical mechanisms for enforcement.
- Programming / Scripting: Strong proficiency in JavaScript/Node.js, Python, and SQL.
