About the Role:
We are seeking a Backend Engineer long-term contractor to work remotely in LATAM. You will be responsible for architecting robust and scalable systems, seamlessly integrating APIs, and crafting elegant solutions that power our digital world. This role involves building the backbone of our applications and shaping the future of our technology stack.

Responsibilities:

• Design and implement server-side applications using Python.
• Write complex SQL queries using Trino to gather analytics data from multiple sources.
• Develop and maintain microservices for our platform.
• Design and optimize databases (relational and non-relational).
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate APIs and ensure smooth functionality.
• Write efficient, reusable code adhering to best practices.
• Perform code reviews to ensure a high-quality codebase.
• Develop comprehensive end-to-end integration tests.
• Troubleshoot and debug issues in backend systems.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest technologies and industry trends.

Qualifications:

• English language proficiency required.
• BS degree in Computer Science or a similar technical area, or equivalent practical experience.
• 2-4 years of experience as a software engineer/developer, with a focus on backend development.
• Proficiency in Python.
• Strong experience with databases, SQL, and database optimization techniques.
• Experience working with microservices architecture.
• Familiarity with API design principles and RESTful services.
• Solid understanding of the software development lifecycle and Agile methodologies.
• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Strong collaboration and communication abilities, capable of working in cross-functional teams.

Nice to Have:

• Advanced degree in Computer Science or related field.
• Experience/certification with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP).
• Familiarity with containerization technologies (Docker).
• Knowledge of message queues and streaming platforms (Apache Kafka).
• Understanding of caching mechanisms and performance optimization.
• Experience with performance testing and profiling tools.
• Familiarity with machine learning concepts and frameworks.
