Data Analyst

Stio®🌍 Remote WorldwideEstimated: $80,000 - $120,000

Data Analyst

About Stio:

Stio is an omni-channel mountain brand based in Jackson, Wyoming, offering apparel, footwear, and accessories inspired by the mountain lifestyle. We operate through Stio.com, catalog, B2B, and our Mountain Studio® retail locations. We are committed caretakers of the environment, partnering with organizations like Protect Our Winters and the Conservation Alliance, and prioritizing Bluesign® approved textiles and responsible supply chain audits. We believe in enabling access to the outdoors for all people and strive for inclusion in our communities.

Your Role:

As a key early member of Stio’s Data & Analytics team, you will work alongside the Director of Data & Analytics to expand the business's data-driven decision-making capabilities. This is a full-stack, horizontal role encompassing data infrastructure (ingestion, modeling, transformation), analysis, BI development, and direct stakeholder partnership across Finance, Merchandising, Marketing, Operations, Inventory Planning, and B2B. You will tackle high-leverage problems and contribute to the growth of the analytics function.

Our tech stack includes Snowflake, Fivetran, dbt, Power BI, GitHub, and increasingly Python, alongside SQL and R. AI-assisted development is the standard, with collaborative coding using AI agents like Claude Code. We expect strong fundamentals and curiosity about evolving AI tooling, rather than pre-existing expertise.

We are looking for an analyst who connects data insights to the bigger picture, with a bias for tying analysis to action. You are proactive, willing to address immediate needs, question assumptions, and prioritize practical solutions over overly complex models.

This is a remote role within the Finance department, reporting to the Director of Data & Analytics.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Partner with stakeholders across Product Development, Marketing, DTC, B2B, Finance, Operations, and Inventory Planning to translate ambiguous questions into well-defined analyses, dashboards, and data products, owning them end-to-end.
  • Build and maintain dbt models to create trustworthy, well-documented datasets, including writing tests and documentation for human and AI consumption.
  • Develop and maintain semantic context, dashboards, and reports for daily business operations.
  • Own metric definitions and business semantics, driving alignment on data interpretation.
  • Review and harden AI-generated code (SQL, dbt, Python), using data intuition to catch semantically incorrect outputs.
  • Investigate ambiguous data questions by collaborating with source-system owners, analyzing edge cases, and reconciling definitions.
  • Contribute to building and maintaining Stio’s data infrastructure (Snowflake, Fivetran, dbt, GitHub, Power BI, R, Python) and inform stack evolution decisions.
  • Improve data governance through useful documentation for both the Data & Analytics team and the wider business.
  • Continuously develop your skills in data analytics.

Your Skills and Experience:

  • 3+ years of professional experience as a data analyst, analytics engineer, or similar role.
  • Advanced SQL (CTEs, window functions, wrangling messy data, query plan analysis).
  • Hands-on experience with dbt, including models, tests, and documentation.
  • Experience with cloud data warehouses (Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks, Redshift, Microsoft Fabric, or similar).
  • Version control with Git/GitHub.
  • Experience with at least one BI tool (Power BI, Tableau, Looker, Omni, or similar).
  • A strong perspective on AI-assisted development for analytics, understanding its capabilities and limitations, and methods for ensuring output trustworthiness.
  • Proven ability to build collaborative relationships with non-technical stakeholders.
  • Comfort presenting findings to leadership verbally, in writing, and visually.

Preferred Additional Skills and Experience:

  • Working knowledge of Python and/or R for analysis.
  • Experience with components of our data stack (Snowflake, Fivetran, dbt, GitHub, Power BI, Python, R, Claude Code, Codex).
  • Experience with systems like NetSuite, Shopify, Google Analytics, Segment, Klaviyo.
  • Professional experience at a DTC or omni-channel retail, apparel, footwear, or outdoor company.
  • Experience working in a small or solo data team.

The Fine Print:

  • Ability to work in a stationary position 50%-75% of the workday.
  • Medical, Dental, Vision plans.
  • Company Paid Long Term Disability.
  • Employee Assistance Programs.
  • 401k with Match.
  • Generous paid time off policies.
  • Gear testing and other perks.

Compensation:

  • Base Salary Range: $85,000 - $100,000 USD

Compensation is determined by experience, skills, and qualifications.
