The Role

Ramboll is looking for a Senior Data Scientist to join the Air & Climate Global Service Line (GSL) Innovation & Digital Transformation (IDT) team. This hybrid position, based in Los Angeles or Irvine, CA (other US locations considered), focuses on designing and delivering applied AI and data-science solutions to accelerate consulting workflows and improve knowledge reuse. You will be part of an innovation-focused team developing prototype-driven solutions for complex consulting challenges, combining modern AI application development with classical data science. The role involves taking ideas from concept through prototype and pilot deployment, partnering with Digital Product Engineering (DPE) for production readiness and scaling.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Lead multiple applied AI and data-science efforts from concept through prototype and pilot, prioritizing business impact and adoption.
  • Design and build AI-enabled solutions, including retrieval-based systems and document-processing workflows, to enhance knowledge access and automation.
  • Apply quantitative methods such as geospatial and time-series analysis to support consulting delivery and strengthen solution rigor.
  • Develop dashboards and lightweight applications that translate analytical outputs into decision-ready insights for consultants and clients.
  • Create reusable accelerators and share best practices to enable repeatable and scalable delivery across teams.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering, or a related quantitative field (or equivalent experience).
  • Demonstrated experience delivering applied data-science or machine-learning solutions in real-world settings.
  • Strong programming skills in Python for data processing, analysis, and model development.
  • Experience using version control tools such as Git for collaborative development.
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical results through visualization and data storytelling.

Salary Transparency Statement

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $97,204 - $121,500 per year. Actual compensation will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and internal equity. This position may also be eligible for bonus, overtime, or other compensation, in addition to a comprehensive benefits package.
