Overview

With the significant growth of our Android app, which is the most used text-to-speech application in the Play Store, we need a Senior Android Engineer. You will help support our expanding user base and work on innovative projects to drive our platform forward. This is a key role ideal for someone who thinks strategically, enjoys fast-paced environments, is passionate about making product decisions, and has experience building delightful user experiences.

We operate a flat organization where leadership is earned through excellent technical skills and consistent, rapid delivery. A strong work ethic, solid communication skills, and an obsession with winning are paramount.

Our interview process is efficient, involving several technical interviews completed within one week.

What You'll Do

• Own major features and collaborate closely with our design team, taking responsibility for delivering high-quality features within the app.
• Shape the future direction and strategy of our Android team.
• Own, maintain, and improve reliability metrics for key features.
• Participate in cross-functional discussions with Product, Design, and Engineering teams.
• Review pull requests and provide support to fellow teammates.
• Handle critical issues and navigate unexpected challenges effectively.
• Take ownership of feature releases and provide nightly builds for the QA team.

An Ideal Candidate Should Have

• 5+ years of software engineering experience.
• Strong familiarity with core Android components.
• Experience building or significantly contributing to at least one Android application.
• Excellent product design intuition and user empathy.
• A drive to push the boundaries of Android UI/UX.
• A clear understanding of the importance of testing and proficiency in writing effective tests.
• Self-motivation to improve the app and codebase beyond specified requirements.
• Rock-solid experience with Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android Animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit tests.
• Excellent communication skills.
• A user-oriented problem-solving approach.
• Driven by continuous feedback from leadership.

Bonus Points:

• Experience building, maintaining, or contributing to open-source Android projects.
• Experience with iOS, Web, or NodeJS development.
