The mission of OrgStore is to provide an easy-to-use, fully-managed platform for storing and searching data. With Postgres as its cornerstone technology, OrgStore focuses on transactional (OLTP) data use-cases while offering a custom data plane and a flexible administrative layer. Its users are thousands of engineers across hundreds of teams producing products at Datadog. As a platform infrastructure team, OrgStore's goal is to accelerate product teams by helping them rapidly stand up new features and make step-change improvements to their application's performance. Data storage is ubiquitous, and the service OrgStore provides is critical for Datadog as the business scales and expands its product offerings.

About the Role

As the Engineering Manager for the OrgStore Blueprint Team, you will lead a high-performing team of software engineers, guiding them in building and maintaining these mission-critical systems. Collaboration is key in this role, requiring close work with other engineering, product, and support teams across Datadog. Your strategic vision will not only guide your team's day-to-day operations but also influence the long-term roadmap of support within Datadog.

What You’ll Do

• Guide and mentor a diverse team of 4-8 software engineers, fostering their career growth while ensuring high team performance.
• Drive the technical roadmap in collaboration with your team, product managers, and support teams, ensuring alignment with company objectives and improving customer satisfaction.
• Engage strategically with complex technical problems and work with your team to produce well-defined and actionable plans.
• Be a core contributor and reviewer of code, lead design decisions, and participate in a well-scoped on-call rotation.
• Understand the broader business context to align technical decisions with business goals, supporting long-term objectives and driving innovation.
• Contribute to engineering-wide initiatives as a member of Datadog’s engineering management team.

Who You Are

• A seasoned software engineer with experience building developer tools, running databases, and maintaining infrastructure with a focus on reliability and fault tolerance.
• A proven leader with the ability to manage team dynamics, set goals, provide feedback, and foster a positive and productive work environment.
• A capable project manager who can plan, organize, and oversee multiple software engineering projects.
• An excellent communicator comfortable interacting with team members, stakeholders, and upper management.
• Demonstrated ability to use AI coding tools in day-to-day workflows and validate, critique, and refine AI-generated output.
• Bonus points: motivated to push the boundaries of how AI can improve software engineering best practices and contribute to building AI-enabled products.
