Senior Backend Software Engineer - Product Analytics

About the Role

As a Senior Software Engineer on the Product Analytics Backend team, you will be instrumental in developing a new, fast-growing product area. You'll contribute to defining the technical direction, influencing the product roadmap, and solving intricate engineering problems for a system that ingests, manipulates, correlates, and stores data from multiple sources like clickstreams and user information.

What You’ll Do

• Design, build, and maintain core backend systems for Product Analytics, ensuring scalability, reliability, and high performance.
• Drive technical architecture decisions in alignment with product goals and collaborate closely with frontend and platform teams.
• Work with core platform teams to tailor Datadog's storage and query solutions to specific needs.
• Foster a strong team culture aligned with engineering standards and customer focus.
• Participate in hands-on engineering work, including coding, code reviews, and design reviews.

Who You Are

• A seasoned backend engineer with deep expertise in designing and building distributed systems.
• Comfortable influencing technical direction and operating as a technical leader and mentor.
• Interested in working on an early-stage project with numerous challenges and a fast iteration cycle.
• Proven track record of delivering high-quality software products on schedule and collaborating effectively with product partners.
• Strong technical skills, particularly with Go, Java, or SQL, with a desire to remain a hands-on contributor.
• Excited about leveraging AI tools to enhance coding, problem-solving, and building, or eager to learn.
• Demonstrated ability to use AI coding tools in daily workflows and validate, critique, and refine AI-generated output.
• Bonus: Motivated to push the boundaries of AI in software engineering and contribute to AI-enabled products.
