Senior Software Engineer - Synthetics Platform

About the Role

The Synthetics Platform team acts as the bridge between Synthetics product engineers and Datadog's core infrastructure. Our mission is to deploy new Synthetics test locations, develop robust tooling for software deployment, and provide expert assistance for cloud provider-specific services. Today, Synthetics services operate in over 30 regions and across 3 cloud providers. The systems and tooling we utilize include Kubernetes, Terraform, Postgres, Redis, Bazel, Temporal, build tooling, Cassandra, configuration management, container orchestration, and Kafka.

What You’ll Do

• Deploy new Synthetics locations to expand our global testing footprint.
• Develop and maintain tooling for managing existing Synthetics locations.
• Design, plan, and build automated tools for seamless, zero-downtime migrations across numerous regions and cloud providers.
• Help shape the future of new infrastructure technologies supporting the Synthetics product.
• Serve as an expert resource, guiding Synthetics developers in making optimal architecture decisions and configuring their services.

Who You Are

• 5+ years of experience in software engineering.
• Programming experience with a structured language such as Go or Python.
• Experience running production environments within one or more Cloud environments (AWS, GCP, Azure).
• A strong commitment to correctness and efficiency, with a meticulous approach to diagnosing production issues.
• Proficiency in managing infrastructure as code to automate tasks and focus on complex problems.
• Production experience with distributed compute/storage tools like Kubernetes, Cassandra, Postgres, Kafka, or Redis.

Salary Range

$130,000 - $300,000 USD
