Design Engineer Part-Time

About the Role

USB Club is seeking a multi-faceted Design Engineer to advance its unique sneaker net for designers, artists, DJs, writers, musicians, researchers, and engineers. This role combines design and coding expertise with a deep understanding of cultural, design, artistic, music, and research spaces.

Responsibilities

Product Roadmapping, Research & Strategy

• Contribute to the development of the network's features, including web access, USB key integration, artist-exclusive USB sales, cloud backup for musicians, and integrations with knowledge graph platforms.
• Build upon the existing vision and realize your own ideas for product development.

Product & Web Design

• Design and develop aspects of the macOS desktop app, iOS app, and website.
• Contribute to a platform described as a "behind-the-scenes" cultural network, akin to early 00's P2P platforms.

Engineering

• Contribute to the Electron desktop app, native iOS app, Vue website (with potential move to Next.js), and TypeScript/PostgreSQL API.
• Work with existing dashboards in Retool and integrations with Typeform & Airtable.
• Ship production-grade features independently.

Social, Posters, Campaigns & Messaging

• Develop campaigns, posters, and messaging strategies to build culture around the network.
• Consider the product's cultural impact and accessibility.

Time & Compensation

• Hourly rate: $40 - $75/hr, based on seniority and ability.
• Estimated commitment: 20-25 hours per week for the next 2-3 months, with potential to grow into a full-time role.
