About the Role
In this role, you will shape information security and business continuity management for universities in NRW at the state level. Within the SISB.nrw Service Center, you will develop a unified framework and influence the security architecture of the university landscape in NRW. The Service Center is funded by DH.NRW (Digital University NRW) and the MKW (Ministry of Culture and Science of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia) and is organizationally linked to HITS.
You will play a central role in the setup and further development of SISB.nrw, including building and leading a new team. You will operate at the intersection of strategy, consulting, and coordination as a service point for 36 universities in NRW, in collaboration with DH.NRW and MKW:
- Develop a statewide framework for information security and support the implementation of jointly developed standards in universities.
- Actively support the introduction and further development of information security and business continuity management (BCM) based on current BSI standards.
- Advise universities on strategic issues related to information and cyber security as well as business continuity management, and accompany audit and evaluation processes.
- Initiate, manage, and coordinate working groups and exchange formats at the state level.
- Collaborate closely with ministries, universities, committees, and working groups, including across states.
- Develop training, certification, and communication formats to strengthen knowledge transfer between universities.
- Actively shape cooperation and governance structures in the university context and develop proposals for statewide measures to improve information and cyber security at universities in NRW.
What You Bring
- Completed studies (Master/Diploma/Magister) or a comparable qualification; several years of relevant professional experience in information security / IT security, particularly in the university environment or public administration, is crucial.
- Leadership experience and strong moderation skills are essential.
- Very good knowledge of BSI IT baseline protection and ideally ISO 27001.
- Experience in setting up or operating information security management systems (ISMS) in the university sector.
- Experience in collaborating with committees, stakeholders, and complex organizational structures – ideally in the university or public sector.
- Ability to communicate strategic topics clearly and to bring together different interests.
- Structured, independent, and solution-oriented way of working.
