About the Role: Director, Sales Finance

This is a strategic leadership role reporting to the Vice President of Finance. You will partner closely with Sales leadership to structure deals that support growth and long-term value, while leading Samsara’s Deal Desk for Enterprise business. You will navigate complex commercial decisions by collaborating across Sales, Finance, Operations, Accounting, Legal, and Product teams.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead Samsara’s Deal Desk team for Enterprise opportunities, partnering with Sales leadership on the company’s largest and most complex deals.
  • Act as a strategic finance partner on high-impact commercial decisions, shaping deal structures that balance growth, margin, risk, and long-term value.
  • Develop creative solutions for complex commercial challenges across pricing, payment structures, commercial terms, legal considerations, and product needs.
  • Influence deal outcomes through strong judgment, financial insight, and effective cross-functional partnership.
  • Utilize data and business insight to support decision-making, identify improvements, and strengthen deal execution.
  • Build trusted relationships with senior leaders and communicate complex issues, tradeoffs, and recommendations clearly.
  • Continuously improve deal processes, governance, and operating rhythms to support scale while maintaining a strong stakeholder and customer experience.
  • Champion, role model, and embed Samsara’s cultural principles.
  • Hire, develop, and lead an inclusive, engaged, and high-performing team.

Minimum Requirements:

  • 10+ years of experience in Finance, Deal Desk, Sales Operations, Revenue Operations, commercial strategy, or related functions, with significant exposure to complex transactions.
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex deal negotiations and navigating cross-functional commercial decisions.
  • Strong financial acumen and ability to translate company goals into deal strategy.
  • Track record of developing creative business solutions with strong financial discipline.
  • Proven ability to hire, lead, and develop high-performing teams.
  • Ability to work effectively with senior management and influence business decisions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills, synthesizing data into actionable insights.

Ideal Candidate Also Has:

  • Experience leading a Deal Desk or similar function in a high-growth SaaS business.
  • Experience partnering directly with Sales leadership on large, complex, or non-standard transactions.
  • A strong interest in using AI and automation to improve workflows and efficiency.
  • Familiarity with AI tools (e.g., Anthropic, OpenAI, Google) and practical application.
  • Familiarity with CRM, CPQ, and CLM tools (e.g., Salesforce, Netsuite).

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Annual Base Salary Range: $134,960—$241,000 USD.
  • Eligible for initial RSU grant and ongoing refresh opportunities.
  • Above-market total compensation through base salary, performance-based bonus/variable pay, and equity.
