About the Team
The Data Science Team is expanding and looking for an experienced leader to head a team focused on the Marketing & Business Development domain. Their mission is to transform Marketing & BD Data Science into a strategic data science partnership, scaling Reddit's marketing efforts and enabling data-driven decisions for product and marketing teams. The team operates across three pillars: Data Foundations, Causal Measurement & Metrics, and Decision-Making Insights.
Responsibilities
As a Data Science Senior Manager, you will:
- Lead and Develop: Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing team of data scientists.
- Drive Strategy: Act as a thought-partner to cross-functional leaders, shaping the roadmap and strategy with actionable insights.
- Deliver Causal Insights: Quantify the incremental lift of marketing spend and develop/deploy Incremental/Predictive LTV models.
- Standardize Measurement: Establish measurement frameworks and ensure consistent metrics for campaign quality and ROI.
- Drive Adoption: Champion the adoption of strategic and tactical recommendations.
- Ensure Data Quality: Oversee data collection and quality, including ETLs and reporting dashboards.
- Enable Self-Service: Lead initiatives for analytics self-serve capabilities.
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience driving product strategy and roadmaps through analytics, ideally for consumer technology products and marketplaces.
- 5+ years of leadership experience as a people manager, leading teams of up to 10 data scientists.
- Expertise in causal inference, A/B testing, metric definition/governance, and product strategy.
- Experience enabling analytics self-serve capabilities for cross-functional teams.
- Excellent communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to understand and simplify complex concepts and systems.
- Proficiency in SQL and Python/R for hands-on analysis.
- Experience leveraging AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Cursor, Claude, LLMs) for productivity and problem-solving.
- Collaborative attitude, natural curiosity, and strong, evidence-backed product opinions.
