The Brand Ad Formats team is dedicated to developing cutting-edge ad solutions that maximize advertiser reach and brand impact. We focus on high-visibility, awareness-driven formats that create memorable user experiences, including fully customizable interactive formats and AI-driven ads incorporating User-Generated Content (UGC). Our strategic focus is to elevate Video Ads into an industry-leading offering.

About the Role

As a Staff Android Engineer, you will spearhead the technical strategy for transforming Reddit's Video Ads into a premier offering for brand advertisers. You will also be instrumental in building and guiding the development of new, unique ad formats on Android, ensuring they are high-performance, high-quality, and scalable.

What You'll Do

• Video Ads Tech Lead: Partner with Product and Design to create a roadmap for industry-leading Video Ads and drive technical execution.
• Technical Strategy: Guide the team on building scalable video ads and unique ad formats, establishing Android best practices and conducting design reviews.
• Full-Cycle Leadership: Oversee the entire development lifecycle, from discovery and prototyping to testing, experimentation, and deployment.
• Raise the Bar: Mentor senior engineers, establish best practices for design, testing, and operational excellence, and advocate for customer needs.

What We Expect From You

• 8+ years of software engineering experience (Staff level seniority).
• Minimum of 3+ years of deep expertise in Kotlin and modern Android architectural patterns, with 4+ Android development projects completed from ideation to deployment.
• Prior experience in Ad Tech, building highly interactive/rich-media mobile experiences.
• Proven track record of delivering user-facing features where UI polish and performance are critical.
• Ability to build fault-tolerant client-side systems in complex, data-intensive environments.
• Experience leveraging GenAI tools to increase software engineering productivity.
• Fluency in working with product metrics, designing and analyzing experiments (e.g., BigQuery, HEX, Firebase).
• Openness to work across the stack and explore innovative approaches like AI/ML integration.
• Self-directed, innovative, and action-oriented with a passion for building new things and thriving in ambiguity.
• Excellent communication skills for collaboration in a remote environment and discussing complex topics with diverse audiences.
• Experienced technical leader with a strong track record of mentoring and uplifting team members.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and keep projects on schedule.
• BS degree in Computer Science, similar technical field of study, or equivalent practical experience.

Pay Transparency

This job posting may span more than one career level. In addition to base salary, this job is eligible for equity in the form of restricted stock units and potentially commission. Reddit offers a wide range of benefits to U.S.-based employees. The base salary range for this position is $217,000 - $303,900 USD.
