The Role: Solutions Engineer

Job Location: Germany

As a Solutions Engineer, you are the technical customer advocate within Cloudflare. You will work closely with every team at Cloudflare, from Sales and Product to Engineering and Customer Support, to ensure customer success. Your goal is to seek out and create scalable solutions for your customers' needs.

What You'll Do:

• Act as the primary technical point of contact for customers, understanding their needs and challenges.
• Collaborate with Sales, Product, Engineering, and Customer Support teams to deliver effective solutions.
• Design and present technical solutions that leverage Cloudflare's portfolio to meet customer requirements.
• Contribute to the technical win by demonstrating the value and effectiveness of Cloudflare's offerings.
• Help customers realize the full promise of Cloudflare through expert guidance and support.

Desirable Skills, Knowledge & Experience:

Our Solutions Engineers come from diverse backgrounds, including financial consulting, engineering, software development, product management, customer support, and project delivery. We value a diversity of experience combined with genuine curiosity for our technology. Ultimately, you are passionate about technology, can explain complex technical concepts clearly, and are an avid builder who isn't afraid to get hands-on.

• Business Fluency in German.
• Ability to manage projects, work to deadlines, and prioritize competing demands.
• Understanding of fundamental internet concepts, including:
• Differences between TCP & UDP and their application use cases.
• Distinction between authoritative and recursive DNS.
• Role of firewalls, TLS (SSL), HTTP, and client/server interactions.
• Understanding of how customers make buying decisions and how to explain ROI.
• Willingness to travel to customer offices, conferences, and deliver talks.

Bonus Points:

• Previous experience in a pre-sales SE or consulting role.
• Demonstrated experience with a scripting language (e.g., Python, JavaScript, Bash) and a desire to expand these skills.
• Experience building or contributing to a web application.
• Detailed understanding of security concepts like CSRF, XSS, and SQLi, and Cloudflare's role in defending against them.
• Understanding of or experience with regulatory requirements such as PCI DSS, HIPAA, and SOC-2.
• Exposure to emerging technical landscape trends like SASE and Zero Trust.

Compensation:

• Estimated Annual Salary: €114,000 - €157,000 for Germany-based hires.
• This role is eligible for incentive compensation under Cloudflare’s Sales Compensation Plan.

Equity:

• This role is eligible to participate in Cloudflare’s equity plan.
