About the Role

We are looking for a creative and passionate Head of Data Science to join our team. You will collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, Growth, Finance, Clinical, and Operations teams to transform behavioral and engagement data into strategic insights that enhance the member experience and drive value. The ideal candidate is a product-centric leader with a deep understanding of the key drivers for member acquisition, engagement, and retention in consumer applications. You should be comfortable navigating ambiguity, possess meticulous attention to detail, be self-motivated, and thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment. As the leader of our Data Science team, your contributions will be instrumental in shaping our member experience as we scale from hundreds of thousands to millions of members.

Key Responsibilities

• Team Leadership & Development: Lead, manage, and develop a high-performing Data Science team, including coaching, performance management, career development, hiring, leveling, and team operations.
• Strategic Roadmap: Define the Data Science strategy and roadmap for Function’s consumer business, covering acquisition, activation, engagement, retention, member health outcomes, marketing, finance, operations, and product experience.
• Cross-Functional Partnership: Collaborate with leaders in Product, Engineering, Growth, Marketing, Clinical, Finance, and Operations to prioritize high-impact Data Science initiatives aligned with company objectives.
• Operating Model: Establish and refine the operating model for the Data Science function, encompassing intake, prioritization, stakeholder management, project planning, quality standards, and communication cadences.
• Measurement Frameworks: Develop and evolve core product and business measurement frameworks, including north-star metrics, funnels, retention, engagement, member value, experimentation standards, and executive reporting.
• Decision Support: Enhance the rigor of company decision-making by ensuring analyses are actionable, clearly communicated, and directly tied to product, operational, or business outcomes.
• Analytical Guidance: Guide the team in applying appropriate analytical methods (e.g., experimentation, causal inference, segmentation, forecasting, behavioral analysis, personalization, outcome measurement) to complex problems.
• Data Foundation Collaboration: Partner with Data Engineering, Analytics Engineering, and Product Engineering to improve data reliability, usability, and governance, enabling the Data Science team to operate with speed and efficiency.

Qualifications & Skills

• 10+ years of experience in data science, product analytics, or applied analytics, with significant experience in consumer technology, subscription, marketplace, fintech, health-tech, or similar high-scale digital product environments.
• 4+ years of people management experience, including direct management of data scientists or product analysts; experience leading teams of 15+ is strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to build, lead, and scale a Data Science function, including expertise in hiring, coaching, performance management, team structuring, planning, and prioritization.
• Strong product and business judgment, with a proven track record of using data to influence roadmap decisions, growth strategies, retention initiatives, operational performance, and executive-level tradeoffs.
• Deep fluency in product and business analytics, including funnels, retention, engagement, cohort analysis, segmentation, experimentation, causal inference, metric design, and executive reporting.
• Excellent executive communication and stakeholder management skills, capable of translating ambiguous business problems into analytical roadmaps and clear recommendations.
• Strong technical proficiency in modern data science and analytics workflows, including SQL, statistical reasoning, experimentation, and relevant analytical tooling.

Nice to have: Experience with subscriptions, personalization, and lifecycle growth.
