The Role: Data Security Team (Internship)

As part of the Data Security Team, you will be instrumental in managing the underlying cryptography across 1Password's products. Your responsibilities will include building cryptographic libraries, implementing the latest algorithms directly into client applications with a focus on security, performance, and usability, and developing proof-of-concepts. You will also implement new industry specifications into code and conduct code and design reviews to uphold cryptographic hygiene and standards across the codebase. This is a remote opportunity within Canada or the US, specifically for a 4-month period from September to December 2026.

What You Can Expect

• A passion for applying modern cryptographic algorithms in real-world situations and a desire to learn.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment with positive communication across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Comfort working within a small team of security developers specializing in Rust and Golang security.
• Opportunity to develop cryptographic or other security libraries to share common security-critical code across applications.

• Experience with Rust and/or Golang, or a demonstrated ability to quickly learn new programming languages.
