About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Account Executive to join our Civil Government Sales Team, focusing on Northern Europe and EU Institutions. Your primary responsibility will be to develop strategic relationships, drive revenue growth, and build a robust sales pipeline within civil government entities, public agencies, and policy-driven organizations. Success requires a high degree of curiosity, creativity, and a problem-solving mindset to deeply understand customer needs, explore use cases, and co-create solutions that align technical capabilities with policy objectives and operational requirements. You will collaborate closely with internal teams (Solutions Engineering, Customer Success, Legal, Finance, Product) and external partners, navigating complex procurement processes and multi-year public sector programs.
This is a full-time, remote position based in Germany, the Netherlands, or the United Kingdom. If located near an office, a hybrid work model (3 days/week in-office) is expected.
Impact You’ll Own
- Own and grow a portfolio of civil government accounts across Northern Europe (Nordics/Baltics) and EU institutions, managing the entire sales cycle from pipeline generation to deal closure.
- Build trusted relationships with ministries, national agencies, space agencies, and public bodies.
- Manage complex, multi-stakeholder sales cycles, including public tenders, RFPs, and framework agreements.
- Develop account strategies aligned with policy objectives, regulatory constraints, and public-sector budget cycles.
- Coordinate internal teams (solutions engineering, customer success, legal, finance) to deliver compliant and compelling proposals.
- Collaborate with partners and system integrators to support government programs.
- Maintain accurate pipeline, forecasting, and account plans in CRM.
- Represent Planet at European conferences, workshops, and institutional meetings.
What You Bring
- 6+ years of experience in Business-to-Government (B2G) or public sector sales.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- Proven ability to close complex, high-value, multi-year deals.
- Solid understanding of public procurement processes, including tenders and framework agreements.
- Excellent negotiation skills and experience managing contract and pricing discussions.
- Ability to manage long sales cycles while maintaining momentum and stakeholder engagement.
- Strong curiosity and problem-solving mindset to understand customer challenges and policy objectives, and translate them into commercial solutions.
- Experience selling technology, data, SaaS, or geospatial/Earth Observation (EO) solutions to government customers.
- Solid understanding of how public institutions operate, including policy-driven decision-making.
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical government audiences.
- Confidence in engaging senior stakeholders, including directors and decision-makers.
- Strong cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Professional working proficiency in English.
