About the Role
Join the Fusion and Modular Nuclear Business Unit and take on a pivotal role in shaping the future of clean energy. You will establish, lead, and manage the Cooling Water Island engineering team within a groundbreaking Small Modular Reactor (SMR) development program. Drive the development of a high-performing team, overseeing the design, integration, and execution of critical cooling water systems essential to reactor operation.
Your Mission
- Leadership: Lead and mentor the Cooling Water Team, driving technical excellence, innovation, and collaboration.
- Requirements Development: Define and establish rigorous safety and performance criteria, ensuring compliance with industry regulations.
- Design Package Production: Oversee the creation of comprehensive design packages aligned with project specifications and technical standards.
- Interface Management: Coordinate effectively between engineering teams, suppliers, and stakeholders for seamless system integration.
- Technical Specification Preparation: Develop clear, detailed technical specifications for key cooling water system components.
- Equipment & Schedule Management: Track, update, and manage critical equipment inventories and project schedules.
- Risk & Opportunity Management: Proactively identify and implement strategies to mitigate challenges and optimize project success.

- Experience:
- FEED to Detailed Design experience in leading projects.
- Multi-Disciplinary Team Leadership.
- Oversight of Steam Cycle Modelling.
- Project Budget & Lifecycle Planning.
- Cooling Water Equipment Expertise.
- Requirements Capture Experience.
- Systems Engineering Awareness.
- Subcontractor Management.
- Knowledge:
- Regulatory & Compliance Knowledge (ONR, Environment Agency, HSE).
- Professional Accreditation:
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) in a relevant discipline.
- Security:
- Eligibility to obtain SC clearance.
