WHAT YOU’LL DO
As a Sales Market Security Manager, your main focus will be to develop, implement, and oversee the security service areas for the sales market across our stores and offices. Lead a team of security professionals and specialists accountable for ensuring the protection of our people, reputation, and assets, creating a secure, safe, and ethical environment.
This hybrid role reports into our General Manager Canada and is based out of our Toronto, CA Support Office.
A Day in the Life
Working at H&M means no two days are ever the same, but a typical day will include the following responsibilities*:
- Lead, inspire, and mentor a team of security professionals and specialists focusing on loss prevention, health & safety, asset protection, security risks management, and compliance.
- Support talent development through coaching, training, and performance management.
- Foster strong cross-functional collaboration with all Sales Market roles (Operations, Human Resources, Legal, IT, Construction, Facilities, Logistics, Accounting, Supply Chain, and many others).
- Promote a culture of integrity, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Set function goals, budgets, and KPIs adapted to country and sales market risk landscape and set actions to meet them.
- Enhance leadership visibility and support security awareness at all levels within the sales market.
- Serve as a senior escalation point for potential misconduct, fraud, investigations, and policy breaches.
- Coordinate scenario planning, crisis simulation exercises, and cross-functional response activation.
- Manage Security standards, strategies, and compliance programs.
- Lead the loss prevention strategy and oversee implementation. Set goals, monitor KPIs, and ensure measures are in place to reduce shrinkage across all channels.
- Ensure that sales market teams are trained and aligned on loss prevention best practices.
- Oversee the security systems roadmap; ensure technologies are effectively deployed, maintained, and evaluated for continuous improvement.
- Identify technological gaps and drive innovation in the security ecosystem to improve safety and efficiency.
- Oversee the health & safety strategy across the sales market, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and guidelines.
- Guide H&S team members in driving safety culture, training, incident reporting, and preventive measures.
- Provide leadership during audits, inspections, and compliance reviews.
- Champion a culture of continuous improvement, responsibility, and collaboration.
- Act as a subject-matter expert to support strategic decisions related to risk, safety, and brand protection.
- Maintain full ownership and oversight of all Security financials within the Sales Market, including budgets, forecasting, investments, invoice management, accruals, and the overall lifecycle of budget-related activities to ensure financial accuracy and operational efficiency.
- Lead and drive the Sales Market Loss Prevention strategy by proactively identifying shrink trends, mitigating losses, and partnering with cross-functional teams to implement effective actions that reduce risk and improve overall profitability.
- Maintain full responsibility for Security vendor management, including the tender process, vendor selection, contract negotiations, performance management, and compliance with H&M Global guidelines and service expectations, while ensuring all contracts remain active, updated, and renewed before expiration.
- Ensure all insurance policies are properly established, maintained, renewed, and paid on time to secure appropriate coverage and minimize organizational risk exposure.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Security Management, Criminal Justice, Risk Management, Business Administration, or related field.
- Professional certifications preferred (e.g., CPP, PSP, CPO, IOSH/NEBOSH Safety Certification).
- Proven experience (3+ years) in retail security, loss prevention, or physical security management—preferably in a multinational or large-scale retail company.
- Strong knowledge of retail operations, security technologies, risk assessment methods, and investigative procedures.
- Solid understanding of health & safety legislation and crisis response protocols.
- Strong leadership, stakeholder management, and communication skills.
- High integrity, confidentiality, and strong ethical judgment.
- Analytical thinker with the ability to interpret data and translate insights into actionable plans.
- Ability to work under pressure, manage crises, and make timely decisions.
- Excellent organizational and project-management abilities.
- Fluent in English; additional languages are an advantage.

Compensation: Annual salary is $113,994
