About HealthCorps

HealthCorps is a national non-profit organization dedicated to improving lives by addressing health challenges in communities. Through innovative programming focused on education, leadership, and service learning, we empower teens. Our model centers on near-peer mentorship, partnering with local colleges and universities to place college-age mentors in schools. These mentors act as relatable role models, inspiring students to become agents of change.

Where You Fit In

HealthCorps impacts tens of thousands of students annually through nutrition, mental health, and fitness education delivered by college mentors. This new role is the vital link between curriculum development and program delivery, ensuring our educational content effectively reaches mentors and students. You will own the mentor training and development experience, collaborating across departments to maintain and enhance our program's excellence. Your work will involve coaching mentors to become confident, skilled facilitators, building their proficiency in program administration, and ensuring curriculum activities are realistic and effective for the settings and training provided. This role also serves as a professional development engine for mentors, many of whom are pre-health students, shaping their future careers in healthcare.

Reach College-Aged Mentors Where They Are

  • Design training content that aligns with how college students consume information, utilizing short videos, push notifications, text-based tips, and interactive modules.
  • Experiment with innovative formats, such as a mentor training podcast, quick-tip video series, or Learning Management System (LMS) modules.
  • Stay current on the motivations and engagement strategies for the current generation of mentors.

Get Out in the Field

  • Dedicate approximately 10-15% of your time to observing mentors, gathering feedback on their experiences, and using these insights to refine training for practicality, usefulness, and responsiveness.
