Job Overview

APTIM is looking for a motivated Client Relationship Manager (Account Manager), Retail Market Director with significant consulting experience and established client relationships to grow and support our Retail, Logistics, and Hospitality Market. This role is an excellent opportunity for a professional aiming to advance their career and make a substantial impact on APTIM's market growth strategies. With services focused on sustainability, zero waste, energy management, compliance, and site assessment, this position allows you to help clients achieve positive environmental outcomes. We are particularly interested in individuals with strong connections in the retail sector, including grocery, home improvement, automotive, department stores, big box, or pharmacy/medical.

This role involves identifying new retail clients and opportunities for APTIM's services, as well as engaging with existing retail clients and Account Managers to cross-sell APTIM's service areas.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities

Business Development

  • Directly responsible for achieving annual sales goals and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software sales pipeline goals.
  • Track sales goals in CRM software (Salesforce) and generate internal reports for the sales incentive program.
  • Leverage existing client relationships to secure new business for APTIM within an agreed-upon timeline.
  • Demonstrate strong proposal preparation skills and the ability to strategize and develop capture plans for new client pursuits and existing client retention/growth.
  • Support the pursuit and hiring of subject matter experts to enhance APTIM's capabilities and competitive advantage.
  • Assist in developing and implementing strategic market/business plans, providing leadership to expand APTIM's Environmental Solutions service areas with existing and new clients.
  • Develop marketing collateral and branding materials to support retail market growth.
  • Monitor and communicate market conditions, innovations, trends, technology, and competitor performance, pricing, and sales strategies to optimize competitive positioning.
  • Participate in technical seminars and industry events, including regional and national trade shows, to expand market penetration of APTIM's services. Actively participate in company capability presentations to clients.

Project Leader

  • As a Seller-Doer, directly influence company revenue, profitability, cash flow, and repeat business by developing client relationships and leading teams in delivering quality consulting services.
  • Assist with all aspects of project start-up, including planning, staffing, budgeting, task creation, staff direction, and managing projects and clients through the ramp-up phase.
  • Support Retail Client Account Managers in expanding service offerings within existing retail accounts by facilitating internal account review calls and participating in external client meetings.
  • Lead internal Retail Market team communications, including monthly meetings and participation in APTIM's Annual Retail Summit.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university.
  • 15+ years of relevant experience in environmental engineering, health & safety, consulting, sustainability, climate change, zero waste, or energy management.
  • 5+ years of experience working in or supporting the retail industry.
  • Proven experience developing and maintaining client relationships.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability to build, coach, and mentor collaborative teams.
  • Excellent communication (written/verbal), strategic thinking, negotiation, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be a self-starter, organized, and able to prioritize workload in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software.
  • Tangible and documented project management experience.
  • Ability to travel as necessary.

  • Experience with Salesforce or similar CRM software.
  • Experience and confidence in growing business in a dynamic market environment, preferably within retail, logistics, and hospitality.
  • Strong business acumen with deep industry relationships.

The estimated annual pay range for this position is $180,000 to $220,000. Compensation is dependent on factors such as experience, education, skills, location, client requirements, market competitiveness, and internal equity.
