About the Role

Gartner Analysts are industry thought leaders who produce essential research, market predictions, and best practices for a wide array of world-leading organizations. As a Director, you will possess a keen ability to identify market gaps, challenges, and solutions. Furthermore, you will reinforce Gartner's value daily by engaging clients through in-person and virtual meetings, sales support, Gartner conferences, and industry events.

What You Will Do

  • Deliver impactful insights to guide clients toward optimal actions for themselves and their organizations. Approximately 40% of your work week will involve virtual client calls with diverse companies and governments, addressing questions like "How do we manage custom ERP extensions using PaaS?" or "Should we adopt a single- or multiple-vendor ERP strategy?"
  • Research, analyze, and predict market trends and shifts (15% of work week). Forecast specific market developments, assist clients in their selection processes, and help vendors with their positioning.
  • Apply critical thinking skills to deconstruct and reframe challenging client questions. Identify the root cause of client barriers or needs and reframe thinking to drive strategic progress.
  • Utilize research insights to create high-quality, clear, actionable, "must-have" papers, presentations, and videos (30% of your work week), adhering to research best practices and methodologies.
  • Present insights in virtual and face-to-face client interactions, as well as at Gartner events, industry conferences, and client briefings.
  • Collaborate actively within research communities to develop and refine ideas. Provide high-quality, timely peer reviews of research content and help the team achieve consensus research positions.
  • Proactively support internal stakeholders (e.g., Research Engagement Services (RES), Sales, and Service) to serve and retain clients, and to advance their critical business priorities.
  • Develop new research and ideas through thought leadership, offering compelling, actionable approaches to client needs and requests that accelerate client action.
  • Demonstrate thought leadership in establishing research positions across a team of analysts.
  • Build credibility as a domain or industry expert to represent Gartner research, methodology, and strategy.
  • Mentor and coach team members.

What You Will Need

  • 12+ years of experience within an IT organization or as an employee of an ERP vendor. This experience should encompass strategy development, business systems integration, vendor evaluation and selection, and the operation, upgrade, and evolution of the ERP domain.
  • Experience implementing cloud applications from vendors such as Oracle, SAP, Workday, or Microsoft.
  • Basic knowledge of ERP instance and consolidation strategy.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; Graduate degree preferred.
  • Executive presence, with the ability to establish immediate credibility with technology executives.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, analytical, and presentation skills; ability to engage clients and respond effectively to questions.
  • Ability to learn quickly and willingness to take a definitive position.
  • Ability to work independently while being intrinsically motivated to collaborate across teams and support the workflow of others in a multicultural, global, and matrixed environment.
  • Strong organizational skills; ability to meet tight deadlines and produce high-quality deliverables.
  • Superior analytical skills, with the ability to apply conceptual models, recognize patterns, and draw and defend conclusions.
  • Excellence in research and writing ability.
  • Proficiency in analyzing and synthesizing data; ability to effectively apply patterns and frameworks to client challenges.
  • Strong business and financial acumen.
  • Subject matter expertise comfortable presenting at large and small-scale speaking engagements.
