About the Role

Reporting directly to the President of BuyQ, the Business Development Representative is an entry-to-mid-level, client-facing position focused on generating new member growth and ensuring early-stage success within BuyQ's community of charter and private schools. This role functions as a Sales Development Representative (SDR) or Business Development Representative (BDR), with a significant emphasis on proactive outbound prospecting to new schools, while also supporting inbound leads and onboarding.

Key Responsibilities

  • Spearhead outbound prospecting efforts targeting charter management organizations, private school networks, and individual schools.
  • Execute high-volume, multi-channel outreach campaigns (phone, email, LinkedIn) to generate new qualified opportunities.
  • Build and maintain a consistent pipeline of meetings through disciplined daily and weekly activity.
  • Research target schools and tailor messaging to key decision-makers, including operations, finance, and procurement leaders.
  • Collaborate closely with Account Executives to align on target accounts and conversion strategies.
  • Engage and qualify inbound and warm leads, conducting initial discovery conversations.
  • Schedule qualified meetings and ensure a seamless handover to Account Executives.
  • Lead onboarding calls, guiding new members through enrollment, contract finalization, and activation.
  • Follow up persistently to ensure onboarding completion and early value realization.
  • Support ongoing member engagement through check-ins and participation in Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs).
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of all activity and member interactions within the CRM.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required.
  • 1-3 years of professional experience, preferably in sales development, business development, customer success, or a related client-facing role.
  • Demonstrated ability or strong interest in outbound prospecting and high-activity sales environments.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage and build credibility with school leaders and operators.
  • Highly organized with strong follow-up discipline and attention to detail.
  • Comfortable managing multiple priorities and working in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Experience with CRM tools (Salesforce, HubSpot, or similar) preferred.
  • Interest in education, nonprofits, SaaS, or membership-based organizations preferred.
