IT Purchasing Specialist

Position Overview

AST SpaceMobile is pioneering the first and only global cellular broadband network in space, designed to connect directly with standard, unmodified mobile devices. Leveraging an extensive intellectual property and patent portfolio, our network serves both commercial and government applications. Our mission is to eliminate connectivity gaps for the world's five billion mobile subscribers and bring broadband access to the billions who currently remain unconnected. We are seeking a detail-oriented IT Purchasing Specialist to manage the procurement of technology-related goods and services essential for supporting our business operations. This role is responsible for ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of IT hardware, software, and services, while maintaining strict compliance with internal policies and fostering robust vendor relationships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the end-to-end procurement processes for all IT equipment, software licenses, and associated services.
  • Process purchase requests efficiently, ensuring timely and accurate order fulfillment and delivery.
  • Identify, evaluate, and cultivate strong relationships with external vendors and suppliers.
  • Negotiate pricing, contracts, and service level agreements to achieve optimal cost efficiencies.
  • Monitor procurement budgets and meticulously track expenditures to ensure alignment with financial guidelines.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings without compromising on quality or service levels.
  • Ensure all purchasing activities strictly comply with internal policies and all applicable regulations.
  • Maintain accurate and organized documentation of purchase orders, invoices, contracts, and vendor records.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with IT, Finance, and other internal teams to support asset lifecycle management and inventory control.
  • Conduct thorough market research to stay informed about current technology trends, pricing dynamics, and available vendor options.
  • Track and manage software license usage, renewals, and compliance requirements effectively.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, Supply Chain Management, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).

Experience

  • A minimum of 3–5 years of experience in IT procurement, purchasing, or a closely related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working within a fast-paced, technology-driven environment.
  • Familiarity with IT asset lifecycle management practices.
  • Exposure to vendor contract negotiations and supplier performance management.
  • A solid understanding of software licensing models and associated compliance considerations.
