Role Overview
The CRMS Officer will be instrumental in the administration, monitoring, and regulatory reporting for all facilities within the Central Bank of Nigeria Credit Risk Management System (CBN-CRMS). This role ensures the accurate processing of CRMS references, timely regulatory updates, adherence to CBN requirements, and effective management of CRMS reporting obligations across the Bank’s credit portfolio. Additionally, the role supports the Bank’s credit risk governance framework through precise portfolio reporting, data integrity management, and regulatory engagement, ensuring compliance with both the CBN CRMS and Global Standing Instruction (GSI) frameworks.
Responsibilities
- Generate and process CBN-CRMS reference codes for newly approved credit facilities.
- Manage the renewal and extension of CRMS references for existing and running credit facilities.
- Update outstanding balances and process liquidation of existing facilities on the CBN-CRMS platform.
- Process and monitor restructuring requests for approved and existing credit facilities on the CRMS platform.
- Trigger and monitor Global Standing Instruction (GSI) processes for defaulted facilities exceeding 90 days across applicable loan portfolios.
- Prepare and submit month-end updates for Bonds, Securities, and loan accounts to the CBN via the CRMS platform.
- Ensure the accuracy and completeness of CRMS regulatory submissions and portfolio updates.
- Monitor compliance with CBN CRMS guidelines, regulatory timelines, and internal credit administration procedures.
- Liaise with Credit Administration, Operations, IT, and other stakeholders to resolve CRMS-related issues and exceptions.
- Maintain proper documentation and audit trails for all CRMS processing activities and regulatory correspondences.
- Support the reconciliation of CRMS records with the Bank’s core banking system and internal credit records.
- Provide periodic CRMS portfolio reports and regulatory updates to management and relevant committees.
- Escalate unresolved exceptions, validation failures, and data integrity issues for prompt resolution.
- Support regulatory examinations, audits, and supervisory engagements related to CRMS and GSI activities.
Requirements
- First Degree in Accounting, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Finance, or other numerate disciplines.
- Minimum of 3 years of cognate experience in credit administration, regulatory reporting, or credit risk management.
- Practical knowledge of the CBN Credit Risk Management System (CRMS) and Global Standing Instruction (GSI) framework.
- Hands-on experience in CRMS processing, validation, and regulatory reporting.
- Proficiency in the use of CRMS Report Converter and CBN CRMS Validator tools.
- Strong understanding of banking operations, loan lifecycle management, and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Strong analytical, reconciliation, and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication and stakeholder management skills.
- High level of accuracy, integrity, and attention to detail.
