Become part of an iconic brand set to revolutionize the electric pick-up truck & rugged SUV marketplace by:
- Leading the development of Climate system features & functions, interfacing and aligning with R&D, electrical architecture, software developers, production, quality, and customer experience teams.
- Taking end-to-end responsibility for the development of climate features & functions, including release to program milestones.
- Defining system-level requirements for hardware, software, features, and architecture, including system and component integration. Serving as an integral liaison between all cross-functional teams.
- Collaborating with stakeholders throughout the system “V” development lifecycle, from concept to launch.
- Owning end-to-end features and functions for climate systems within the new SDV architecture.
- Acting as the subject matter expert for assigned functions throughout the entire product development lifecycle.
- Managing requirements: defining, documenting, and managing all functional & non-functional requirements (System, Software & Hardware) for the function, ensuring alignment with vehicle specifications and legal regulations (FMVSS, SAE, OBDII, etc.) and internal standards.
- Leveraging domain/working knowledge of SW controls, EE, Electronics, and expertise in development, testing, and validation methods for mechatronic systems.
- Developing component and system designs, functional and End-of-Life (EOL) specifications, detailed test methods, and system-level DFMEA, DV, PV for complex mechatronic systems.
- Managing the technical release of the function and calibration data for production.
- Championing the 1st principles design methodology and employing extensive problem-solving techniques for debugging and issue resolution.
- Leading sprint planning and daily stand-up meetings.
- Developing and maintaining Best Practices, including Design Standards, Test Procedures, and Technical Specifications.
Location & Travel Expectations
- This role can be based at the Scout Motors corporate headquarters in Charlotte, NC or Novi, Michigan.
- The position requires 4 days per week in the office, with regular in-person meetings and events.
- Applicants should anticipate the need for in-person collaboration with Scout colleagues and occasional travel for company events.
What You'll Bring
We expect all Scout employees to demonstrate integrity, curiosity, resourcefulness, a positive attitude, and a growth mindset. You should be comfortable with change, adaptable in a fast-paced, high-growth environment, and take a collaborative approach to achieve ambitious goals. Specifically, you will bring:
- A Master's degree with 8+ years of experience in Mechanical/Mechatronics/EE/SW engineering, or a PhD with 6+ years of experience.
- Extensive experience with Automotive Systems or Mechatronics Products, specifically in Climate Systems.
- A strong understanding of fundamental Engineering principles, with a results/solution-oriented approach.
- Subject matter expertise in Systems Engineering, Multi-domain physics, and Complex systems design involving EE and SW integration.
- Familiarity with software for embedded systems and EE systems like wiring and power distribution units.
- Familiarity with communication protocols such as A2B, CAN, Automotive Ethernet, LIN, LVDS, and vehicle network tools (e.g., CANalyzer, CANoe).
- Expertise in complex problem-solving, data analysis, and driving results with extended teams.
- Experience with requirements management tools.
- Knowledge of Automotive design and development processes, system requirements, and general engineering best practices.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a high degree of integrity.

Pay Transparency
This is a full-time, exempt position eligible for a base salary and an annual performance bonus program. The final salary will be determined based on factors such as candidate skills and experience. The annual performance bonus program is preset and not candidate-dependent.
- Initial Base Salary Range: $130,000.00 - $160,000.00
- Internal Leveling Code: IC8
