The Role
3Cloud is looking for an experienced Database Administrator who is comfortable managing multiple deadlines and varied customer requests. A strong OS background is preferred due to the many migration assessments and implementations required by the position. Experience with Azure is a must, along with flexible and creative analytical skills to fit the solution to the customer needs.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a DBA for multiple customers, assisting with Database Migrations, High Availability and Disaster Recovery solutions, SQL and Windows Clustering solutions, Monitoring, Backup/Recovery solutions, and Performance Tuning including remediation on performance blockers.
- Manage multiple long-term database (Azure data services) projects concurrently.
- Scope, plan, implement, document, and present solutions to customers.
- Provide cost-effective Azure platforms tailored to customer requirements.
- Work across Development, Test, and Production environments to support customer needs.
- Assist with Security definitions and roles for various users and support the Azure Infrastructure team in provisioning data services in Azure cloud.
- Manage client expectations regarding scope, cost, and timeline.
- Author high-quality project documentation and other project artifacts, including written case studies.
- Act as an effective technical mentor to junior teammates.
- Deliver complex projects on-time and within budget, proactively identifying and mitigating gaps and risks.
- Continuously expand knowledge in multiple tools and technologies.
- Foster a problem-solving culture through collaboration and partnerships.
- Support internal 3Cloud objectives to advance data services design and techniques.
- Assist the Sales Team with Presales efforts, defining scope estimates when bandwidth allows.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field; or equivalent work experience.
- Ability to work both strategically and tactically in diverse customer environments.
- EXTREMELY detail-oriented and self-directed.
- Ability to produce high-quality documentation for internal and external distribution.
- Multiple years of experience with a major RDBMS (Oracle/SQL Server), with a preference for deep experience with Microsoft products.
- Experience performing multiple database migrations from different cloud platforms or on-premises to Azure.
- Moderate experience with OS clustering concepts and technologies.
- Understanding of security roles and database security implementation.
- Advanced experience in the implementation and appropriate use of HA/DR technologies: Always On AG, Replication, Log shipping, Mirroring.
- Advanced experience with database objects/stored procedures.
- Advanced experience with performance tuning, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
- Strong understanding of Cloud Infrastructure solutions and their implementation using IaC (Bicep or Terraform).
- Drive to maintain knowledge of the latest technologies and their potential impact on 3Cloud offerings.
- Understanding of the cloud ecosystem and leading-edge cloud emerging technologies.
- Proficiency in performance analysis, troubleshooting, and remediation techniques.
- Strong analytical problem-solving ability.
- Strong presentation, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently or as part of a virtual project team.
Additional Preferred Experience:
- Over 2 years of experience in:
- Designing and implementing logical and physical data models for cloud and hybrid data warehouse environments.
- Implementing data architectures for various data formats (structured, semi-structured, unstructured).
- Implementing multiple full life-cycle data warehouses.
- Understanding of data architectures for data integration processing.
- Data modeling technologies (e.g., ER/Studio, ER/Win).
- Microsoft Azure Data Platform services (Azure Data Lake Store, Azure Storage, Azure Synapse, Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL Database, Logic Apps, APIs).
- Data profiling and creation of source-to-target mappings.
- Provisioning and configuring Azure data service resources.
