About the Role

Reporting to the Delivery Manager, the Project Manager will lead the full lifecycle delivery of assigned contracts or work packages. This pivotal role is responsible for planning and delivering engineering, procurement, manufacturing, construction, and commissioning activities, ensuring alignment with project schedules and key objectives in safety, quality, time, and cost. The position may involve overseeing the design and construction of on- and off-site infrastructure, including facilities, utility networks, and highway works delivered to adoptable standards.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Define and manage the work scope, including interfaces with other program elements.
  • Embed scope into governance documents and ensure consistency.
  • Support budget development and periodic reporting with the Senior Project Manager (SPM) and Commercial team.
  • Develop and maintain contract/package schedules, ensuring consistency with overall Project schedules.
  • Coordinate with Quality teams to implement Quality Management per management systems, with specific attention to off-site QM requirements.
  • Develop and implement the Program Execution Plan (PEP), defining strategies and plans for work delivery and management.
  • Assist in securing necessary project resources.
  • Maintain effective stakeholder communications.
  • Support SPM, Commercial, and Procurement teams in sourcing strategy development and tender document preparation, responding to queries and participating in technical reviews.
  • Drive contract/package activities to ensure safe, on-time, and within-budget delivery, meeting business and technical requirements.
  • Anticipate, manage, and resolve issues within the contract or package.
  • Provide written and oral reports (weekly and monthly) to the SPM and engage with management for progress presentations.
  • Ensure the List of Deliverables (LOD) is met.
  • Fulfill contract/package contractual requirements, manage non-conformance notices, and oversee remedial works.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree and chartered status in an engineering, construction, or related field.
  • Solid knowledge of CDM Regulations.
  • Proficiency in Project Management methodologies (e.g., APM Body of Knowledge, Prince 2).
  • Proven track record of delivering projects in technically complex and dynamic environments, with a focus on safety, security, and environmental responsibility, ideally in the Nuclear Energy sector or similar regulated environments.
  • Experience managing contractors, consultants, and advisors on large, complex construction projects in regulated environments, including experience with NEC or FIDIC contracts.
  • Demonstrated success in managing/developing:
  • Engineering design, contract, and field execution strategies for project delivery.
  • Multi-discipline EPCM projects.
  • Procurement and management of complex contracts.
  • Cost control, risk management, schedule management, and change management, proficient in Earned Value tools.
  • Commercial claims close-out and associated negotiations.

Desirable

  • Understanding of nuclear quality requirements and assurance/control processes.
  • Knowledge of applying a graded approach to quality.
