The Role

Agilent's Diagnostics and Genomics Group is looking for a customer-centric In-Field Customer Application Specialist (CAS) to support new and existing customers within the Boston, MA territory. This position serves as the primary scientific and technical expert for Agilent’s Pathology and Genomics Solutions. You will collaborate closely with sales, service, and internal teams to drive business growth, ensure successful product implementations, and optimize customer outcomes.

Territory Coverage

  • This is a multistate territory encompassing Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, and Massachusetts.
  • The ideal candidate must reside in the Boston area.
  • No relocation assistance is available.
  • This position is remote/home-office based within the assigned territory.
  • Regular travel within the territory is required to support pre-sales, post-sales, training, and customer optimization activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide pre-sales scientific and technical consultation, partnering with Sales to guide customers toward optimal Pathology and Genomics solutions.
  • Support customer meetings and presentations as the technical subject matter expert, both in-person and remotely.
  • Co-travel with Sales Account Managers to develop new business and support existing accounts.
  • Support post-sales installations, including on-site training and Performance Qualification, in collaboration with Field Service Engineers and internal teams.
  • Optimize customer assays, including IHC, Special Stains, H&E, and Molecular ISH/FISH.
  • Deliver on-site and remote troubleshooting in partnership with Applications, Technical Support, Sales, and Service teams.
  • Act as the customer voice, providing feedback to influence future product and application development.
  • Maintain awareness of competitive solutions and articulate Agilent’s value differentiators.
  • Complete required administrative activities, including scheduling, travel, expenses, and service documentation.
  • Support the Lexington Center of Excellence by maintaining instrumentation, supporting customer demonstrations (remote and on-site), and staining slides from customers on Agilent instrumentation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree (or equivalent) in Life Sciences or a related field.
  • 1–2 years of experience supporting pathology and genomics instrumentation and workflows in clinical or laboratory environments.
  • HT or QIHC certification is a plus.
  • Strong scientific and technical background in:
  • Immunohistochemistry (IHC)
  • Special Stains and H&E
  • Molecular techniques, including ISH/FISH
  • Ability to communicate complex scientific concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel extensively.
  • Up to 75% travel with flexible working hours.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds and perform hands-on laboratory activities.
  • Must meet Agilent-approved customer and vendor credentialing requirements for site access, where applicable.

Additional Details

  • This is a full-time position with the option to work remotely.
  • It is sales incentive eligible.
  • In the US, this position is eligible for a choice of company car or reimbursement for personal vehicle usage.
  • The full-time equivalent pay range for this position is $105,075.00 - $175,125.00/yr plus eligibility for bonus, stock, and benefits. Pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Individual pay is determined by work location and other factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
