✨ AI Insights & Summary
This role at ULMAN Dichtungstechnik offers a compelling opportunity for an experienced ERP/Java Developer to move beyond routine tasks and actively shape the IT landscape of an industrial company. With a clear path towards IT leadership and significant autonomy in developing an established ERP system, this position is ideal for a proactive individual seeking long-term growth, impactful projects involving AI and system integration, and a collaborative work environment with excellent work-life balance benefits.
Company Description
ULMAN Dichtungstechnik, established in 1970, is an industrial company based in Gärtringen near Stuttgart. We specialize in developing customized solutions for our clients and prioritize pragmatic, functional processes internally. Our ERP system is a bespoke, continuously evolving platform, not an off-the-shelf product.
Job Description
Actively shape the IT of an industrial company.
Do you master ERP systems (ideally abas) and Java and want to do more than just process tickets, but truly develop a long-standing ERP system? Then you'll find the space to do so at ULMAN.
With us, you'll work on the core of an industrial company: our individually customized ERP system. You'll advance processes, build interfaces, introduce new technologies, and collaborate directly with administration, production, and IT management.
Instead of corporate approvals and endless release rounds, you'll find short paths, genuine responsibility, and a concrete long-term perspective: the current IT Manager will retire in a few years. Those who join now can gradually grow into greater responsibility.
Responsibilities
- Develop and optimize our abas ERP system using Java, ensuring it aligns with our internal workflows.
- Analyze requirements from administration and production, understand the underlying processes, and translate them into functional technical solutions.
- Independently plan and execute IT projects, such as those involving interfaces, system integration, paperless manufacturing, or AI-supported processes.
- Perform updates, adjustments, and maintenance with minimal disruption to ongoing operations.
- Work closely with the current IT Manager, learn our established system landscape, and gradually assume more responsibility.
- Provide 1st and 2nd level support, meticulously document your work, and focus on quality, testing, and sustainable solutions.
Qualifications
- Solid experience with (abas) ERP and Java.
- Understanding not only of code but also of business operations, such as in order processing, administration, or production.
- Confident and precise communication in German (at least C1 level) due to extensive collaboration with specialist departments.
- Independent, solution-oriented work style, maintaining a holistic view even with complex topics.
- Willingness to work on-site in Gärtringen three days per week.
- Ability to clearly explain technical concepts to colleagues without an IT background.
- Experience with interfaces, databases, or system integration is a plus, but not mandatory.
- Openness to further training, for example, in abas, Java, or new technologies like AI.
Benefits
- Friday afternoons off: Enjoy your Friday afternoons every week.
- 2 days of remote work per week: Hybrid work is clearly regulated and easily possible.
- Flexible working hours: Organize your day effectively as long as the work is completed.
- Genuine creative freedom: Your ideas are discussed and implemented directly if they make sense, not postponed.
- Perspective towards IT management: Opportunity for long-term growth into greater responsibility.
- Technologically exciting projects: Work on ERP development, AI integration, paperless manufacturing, and a modern system landscape.
- Attractive additional benefits: Fixed salary, 13th salary, €40 monthly VWL, additional accident insurance, and canteen subsidy.
- Modern equipment: Laptop, multiple monitors, and the technology needed for effective work.
- Training as needed: Tailored professional development, not generic training.
- Predictability over travel: On-site visits are rare, planned, and usually single-day.
