The Role: Senior Software Developer / Project Lead (Motion Control)

We are seeking a Senior Software Developer to join our Motion Control team, comprised of 8 software developers focused on advancing robotics in medical technology, working closely with hardware. This role combines technical leadership with hands-on development, where ensuring the quality and correctness of software for life-saving medical devices is of utmost importance.

As a project lead, you will guide smaller and larger customer projects from a technical perspective and serve as a role model within the team. softgate offers clear career progression opportunities beyond project leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Hands-on Project Leadership: As an experienced member of the team with solid knowledge of software and applications, you will drive projects forward.
  • Team Contribution: Take responsibility for tasks and backlog items, working in a structured and quality-oriented manner while being attentive to team progress and colleagues.
  • Architecture Development: Actively contribute to the evolution of our architecture standards, including API design, CI/CD pipelines, and security best practices.
  • Market Awareness: Remain open to market developments, such as AI, within the software development environment.

Qualifications

  • Several years of experience in software development, ideally within the medical technology sector.
  • Proficiency in C++ and modern software architecture principles.
  • Experience with agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) and DevOps tools.
  • Proven experience in leading and motivating software development teams.
  • Very good German language skills (minimum C1 level) and very good English language skills.
  • An independent and self-driven work style to support the team.
  • Nice to have: Experience with software like Copilots, Azure, Polarian, QNX, Linux, FreeRTOS, Visual Studio Code.
