The Role: Senior Project Manager (Retail Construction)
As a Senior Project Manager, you will lead all project phases from initiation to close-out, ensuring accountability for delivery. You will be a senior leader, driving project strategy, mentoring junior team members, and ensuring best-in-class project execution, with a particular focus on retail construction programs.
Job Description:
- Lead end-to-end delivery of multiple projects or programs, especially in retail construction, aligning with client objectives for cost, schedule, and quality.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, offering strategic guidance, proactive risk management, and value-driven solutions.
- Oversee project planning, budgeting, and scheduling with robust controls and accurate forecasting.
- Manage design, procurement, and construction phases, ensuring seamless stakeholder coordination.
- Conduct regular site visits (including travel) to monitor progress, ensure quality, and enforce safety and compliance.
- Manage contractors, consultants, and vendors, enforcing contractual obligations under CCDC, MSAs, and other agreements.
- Lead procurement activities, including tender strategy, bid evaluations, and contract negotiations.
- Drive risk identification, mitigation, and issue resolution.
- Oversee change management, cost control, and progress payments.
- Ensure comprehensive project documentation and closeout packages.
- Mentor and support junior team members, contributing to team development.
- Collaborate with internal leadership and contribute to client relationship management and business development.
Qualifications:
- 8+ years of experience in project or construction management, with a strong client-side or consulting track record.
- Significant experience in retail construction (rollouts, store fit-outs, multi-site programs) is strongly preferred.
- Proven ability to lead complex, multi-site, or fast-track projects and manage competing priorities.
- Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, building systems, and CCDC contract frameworks.
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing cross-functional teams and multiple stakeholders.
- Expertise in budget management, cost control, and commercial oversight.
- Proficiency with tools such as Bluebeam, AutoCAD, MS Office; familiarity with project management and IWMS tools is an asset.
- Experience with Smartsheet, Jira, or G Suite is an asset.
- Degree or diploma in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
- Professional designations (PMP, P.Eng, CET, Architectural Technologist, MRICS) are strong assets.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.
Additional Information:
- Base Salary Range: $95,000 - $135,000 per year.
