About the Role
We are seeking a Senior IT Application Specialist to join our Finance unit, based in Cologne (hybrid) or Berlin (remote). In this permanent, full-time role, you will be the central point of contact between Finance, IT, and external service providers, ensuring the reliable operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of our finance-related IT applications. This position is perfect for experienced professionals (5+ years) who excel in hands-on application support, system administration, and stakeholder collaboration within a finance context.
Key Responsibilities
- Support and manage finance-related IT applications (e.g., ERP, reporting, and spend management systems) in daily operations.
- Ensure stable and reliable system performance, availability, and data integrity.
- Administer, maintain, and optimize applications to support efficient and user-friendly processes.
- Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve system incidents and user issues, providing first-level support.
- Act as a key contact for Finance stakeholders, ensuring smooth communication and quick resolution of requests.
- Support integrations and collaborate with IT teams to maintain functional system connectivity.
- Coordinate with external vendors and service providers for issue resolution, updates, and improvements.
- Implement and monitor system updates, configurations, and patches.
- Contribute to maintaining compliance with financial and IT security standards.
- Support ongoing improvements and small enhancements of finance applications and processes.
- Guide and train end users to ensure confident and effective system usage.
Requirements
- Degree in Business Administration, Business Informatics, IT, or a comparable field.
- 5+ years of experience in IT application management or application support, ideally in a finance-related environment.
- Strong understanding of finance processes (e.g., accounting, controlling, reporting).
- Hands-on experience with finance tools such as Kendox, Yokoy, TravelPerk, or LucaNet is a plus.
- Solid understanding of IT service management principles (e.g., ITIL) and support processes.
- Experience working with external vendors and service providers.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a structured, reliable, and hands-on working style.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work at the interface between business and IT.
- Fluent in English and German.
