About the Role
The VP, Finance will serve as the senior financial leader, holding full ownership of the company's financial operations. Reporting directly to the CEO, this role oversees all finance functions, including Accounting, FP&A, AP/AR, and Payroll & Benefits Administration. The ideal candidate will blend financial rigor with commercial acumen, acting as a trusted partner to the executive team, translating financial data into strategic insights, ensuring reporting integrity, and building a scalable finance function for future growth.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Strategy & Executive Partnership
- Define and drive the company’s long-term financial vision, capital strategy, and resource allocation.
- Serve as the primary financial liaison with the Board of Directors, investors, banks, auditors, and financial advisors.
- Own investor relations and all Board, investor, and bank reporting.
- Act as a strategic advisor to the CEO and Executive Team, providing actionable financial recommendations.
- Lead the development and management of the long-range financial plan, annual operating budget, and quarterly forecasts.
- Partner cross-functionally with sales channel leaders (DTC, marketplace, wholesale, retail) to align financial plans with business objectives.
- Deliver enterprise-wide financial insights, KPIs, and decision support.
Financial Reporting & Controls
- Ensure accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting in accordance with U.S. GAAP and international standards.
- Design, implement, and enforce a robust internal controls environment; maintain audit readiness.
- Manage external audit and tax relationships.
- Improve the efficiency of the financial close and consolidation cycle.
- Ensure the integrity of financial data across ERP and reporting systems.
Treasury, Cash & Risk Management
- Lead treasury strategy, including cash flow forecasting, credit facility oversight, and working capital optimization.
- Monitor and manage financial risk (foreign exchange, vendor credit, operational exposure) and develop mitigation policies.
- Manage banking relationships and guide capital deployment for M&A, capital raises, and strategic partnerships.
- Evaluate and support capital needs for strategic initiatives.
FP&A & Business Intelligence
- Lead the FP&A function, establishing processes for forecasting, variance analysis, and management reporting.
- Build and deliver quarterly Board-level and executive-level financial reporting packages.
- Develop KPIs and financial dashboards for real-time performance visibility.
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction and margin improvement.
Accounting & Operational Finance
- Provide strategic oversight of accounting operations (AP/AR, payroll, general ledger, financial reporting).
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial regulations.
- Oversee accounts payable and receivable functions.
- Maintain and enforce company-wide accounting policies.
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance team.
- Set clear goals and expectations, building scalable structures and processes.
- Recruit and develop top finance talent.
- Champion a culture of financial discipline and data-driven decision-making.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; MBA and/or CPA strongly preferred.
- 15+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience, including significant leadership of multi-functional finance teams.
- Proven track record as a senior finance leader in a startup or high-growth company (consumer, retail, e-commerce, multi-channel brand preferred; beauty, fashion, wellness a plus).
- Deep expertise in financial reporting, GAAP compliance, internal controls, and audit management.
- Strong command of FP&A disciplines (long-range planning, budgeting, forecasting, management reporting).
- Hands-on experience with ERP systems (NetSuite expertise strongly preferred).
- Demonstrated ability to translate complex financial data into actionable insights for executive audiences.
- Experience preparing Board of Directors reporting and investor/lender presentations; prior fundraising/debt financing/equity process exposure preferred.
- Exceptional leadership and people management skills.
- Strategic thinker with adaptability and operational rigor for a fast-paced environment.

Compensation & Benefits
- Compensation: $240,000 – $270,000 + Variable Performance Bonus + Equity.
