Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and lead a comprehensive public relations strategy supporting business objectives. Serve as a senior advisor to executive leadership on reputation, media strategy, and external narrative. Translate business strategy, product innovation, and data insights into compelling stories. Establish clear PR metrics, KPIs, and reporting.
  • Media Relations and Thought Leadership: Own and elevate the company’s media presence, cultivating strong journalist relationships. Proactively identify and shape high-impact media opportunities. Design and manage executive thought leadership platforms. Oversee development of PR materials.
  • Corporate Communications and Reputation: Lead reputation management initiatives. Partner closely with Brand, Marketing, Product, and Legal for message alignment. Anticipate emerging issues and prepare response frameworks. Oversee corporate announcements.
  • Issues and Crisis Management: Build and maintain robust issues and crisis communications plans. Serve as a lead advisor during sensitive situations. Train executives and spokespeople on media engagement.
  • Leadership and Collaboration: Serve as a key strategic partner to the executive leadership team. Lead cross-functional PR planning processes. Manage PR budget, agency relationships, and vendor contracts.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of progressive experience in public relations or strategic communications, including substantial leadership responsibility.
  • Significant experience in healthcare, health technology, life sciences, or closely related regulated industries.
  • Proven track record of elevating a company’s reputation, driving media coverage, and shaping public narratives in complex environments.
  • Demonstrated success influencing senior stakeholders and managing agencies.
  • Deep expertise in media relations, corporate communications, executive visibility, and issues/crisis management.
  • Strong strategic thinking skills connecting market trends, health policy, and technology innovation to storytelling opportunities.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, crafting clear, persuasive narratives for diverse audiences.
  • Comfortable operating at both strategic and hands-on levels.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Public Policy, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Preferred: Experience leading PR for a high-growth health tech company; background working with clinical leaders; experience in both in-house and agency environments; global or multi-region communications experience.
